Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

It is. Dual channel DDR2 ram alone makes it better than Tegra 2.

There's a drawback to that. Power consumption. It's going to need some juice.

It's going to be VERY interesting to see the battery life on the Bionic.

4440 is a beast (If they go with it)

Very torn at this point. I want to wait for the Bionic, but these tiers are scaring me. There is some rumor of shared family data like the minutes. If I knew for sure there could be shared family data I would definitely wait.

I messed with the Charge a little bit. I like the display, but I just have this thing in my brain telling me to wait for the Bionic. I am sure that I would be happy with the charge, but I can't seem to pull the trigger. The one thing I was not a fan of was the build. It was plastic and didn't feel well built like the OG Droid.

Play with the Droid X2 and compare the two. Imagine that with GB and LTE, in a slightly larger size. Hard to say how noticeable the extra RAM and better processor will be in everyday usage, but the Bionic should be pretty similar in most respects.

Personally, I felt that the Droid X2 was laggy, and thought the pentile screen looked horrible. But that's just my opinion, others love it. Your mileage may vary.

What tipped the balance for me in early May:
  1. I figured that in September I'd be able to sell the Charge on eBay for a decent price, and use the proceeds toward the full-price purchase of a Bionic...
  2. My 6-year-old flip phone was dying, and I figured it was worth getting 3-4 months more Android phone usage than I would if I waited for the Bionic...
  3. The realization that if I pulled the trigger then (in early May), I'd be able to upgrade 3-4 months earlier to whatever hot new phones are available when my contract is up for renewal in 2013...

so, that brings me back to my question: what is it about the change in processors that makes the Targa different from the Atrix? is it speed, durability, battery usage, or....?? again, not trying to be a smartass - i just want to understand...

why do we care about intel vs amd? Nvidia vs ati? Even with similar specs, we know they are not the same.

omap vs tegra, we're not talking simply different cpus, they are soc, system on a chip. (At least I know tegra2 is, but by that definition, we can at least assume the omap epuipped devices will have a different gpu)

you know i was thinking about this very topic this morning and i went thorough my bills since i got my DX and I see on my heaviest month (and i'm on my phone ALOT during the day) i used between .8 & 1.1GB of data. well below the $30 plan. overages are only $10 per GB anyway according to the article on the front page here.

if you have kids that might be a different story but i would think for single lines (provided they don't share data) that you'd be fine with 2GB.

Again, once you switch to 4g, your data usage goes WAY up. I've now used 5.1 Gbs so far this month, and still have a week to go. Granted, I look things up on my phone alot, and tend to grab alot of apps, but aside from a little Youtube and Pandora streaming, I don't really do anything that would be considered a huge data hog. I'd say its about average for a technology enthusiast who's excited about playing with his new phone, but I don't expect my usage to drop that much either.

So I'm no data hog, and would already be paying $70 for data this month if these new prices are to be believed! That's ridiculous to charge that kind of money, but its even more ridiculous to introduce a revolutionary new high-bandwidth network technology, and then prevent people from enjoying by forcing them to sip data to stay under their caps.

Again, your mileage may vary, but I would advise most of you who are still waiting to grab a Charge with unlimited now while you still can.

long time lurker. I just created an account since reading of the news that unlimited is ending in early july I go so angry I had to vent. I just emailed this to verizon and I must say it made me feel better.

Dear Verizon,
I would personally like to thank you for your recent decision to end unlimited data on July 7th of 2011. Nothing says ?let?s celebrate our nation?s freedom!? quite like taking away our freedom to use our phones how and how often we choose. Coupled to that, you have since delivered subpar smart phones while every other carrier has landed the best phones to date. Speaking on behalf of several customers we had high hopes of getting an industry leading phone before the end of unlimited data, but it appears once again Verizon has left us empty handed with envy towards customers who took their business elsewhere. Well I am glad to say that the timing of your switch to tiered data plans has been the final straw that broke the camel?s back and I will happily be taking my business to Sprint. Way to be patriotic Verizon. Can you hear me now?.NO!

lol have fun at sprint!

Relax people. I imagine smoke billowing from ears, while keyboards are furiously being pounded on. This has been rumored for months. Did people really expect verizon not to get the jump on all you data hogs? It's all business, nothing personal.

I am More Interested in what the 3rd Revision of the Bionic is.... Time for the speculation and rumors to start flying again...

we heard from 2 sources this weekend that Motorola is on revision 3 of the device, which means it’s not yet ready.
My Friends, the DROID Bionic is Not Launching on July 4 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

I am looking for any clues or news that may be out there. NFC, better FFC, New Form Factor, what could they be changing now? anything right????

revision 3 is for it to self implode and take the terrible company with it.

But seriously. Its probably just minor stuff, like recolor here, or solving more heat problems.

Just look at all the problems the Droid X2 has, while the GSII is one of the smoothest and powerful phones released. I think I'm gonna skip over the Charge and Bionic and deal with tiered prices, since I almost always have wifi.
