Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

Gentlemen, Can we please agree to disagree? I do not share everyone's view points, nor would I want too. I state something that is true for me (aka my opinion) and someone else would say I am an idiot. To call someone a Liar, Badger and belittle is outrageous. I Enjoy reading all of the comments on this site UNTIL they are nothing more than one person Badgering another person, there is NO value added in those posts.

Just because CK said that Webtop is the worst thing in the world, does that make him a liar??? Hell no, that is his opinion. Do I agree with it? No. Is webtop a waste for me as i will never use it? Yes, but It will not bother me enough to keep me from buying this phone.

Just because CK said that Pentile screen looks like garbage and there are those of us (myself included) who actually really like the Pentile Screen on the DX2, does that make him a liar? No.

One persons views and opinions will not hold weight or reflect the truth of what another persons views and opinions are.

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF DROID, CAN WE MOVE ON FROM THE BADGERING????

Lets get back to pure phone discussion, speculation, disagreeing, badgering, what have you, and leave personal attacks out of it.

So... with that being said, what the heck is the 3rd Revision of this phone????? O:-)

agreed!

as for the 3rd revision, i have to go back and double check; but, my understanding (from Winston over at HoFo, or on here) is that: the CES Bionic was going to be the first iteration of this phone; the Targa was going to be the second, upgraded generation, i.e., the "Bionic 2" (but now that the first one is scrapped, the Targa is now going to be the first); and they are already working on the third generation, as an upgrade to the phone that hasn't been released yet, and what we are all waiting for (i.e., the "new" Bionic 2, probably to be released in '12). I'm pretty sure the "3rd revision" does not mean that they are tweaking/re-tooling this phone, yet again, before they release it. that's my take on things...

EDIT: i read the Droid Life article, and it does hint at the 3rd revision being made before the Bionic launches. so, i may be wrong. but, i find it hard to believe that Moto, after the delays and cancellation, would risk not meeting its re-re-revised promise for the launch of this phone by retooling this device yet again...

There seems to be few stories out that the Bionic is closer than we think. Which is not what the Droid Life post yesterday would indicate that of last weekend the phone was on its 3rd revision... Confusing stuff.

If there was indeed a last minute change, It seems unlikely that the Screen would be able to be replaced so quickly. I was thinking more along the lines of Software related but have nothing to back that up with.

Quoted for truth.

There?s very little room here for dogmatism. Let?s just talk about these gadgets? ?warts and all.

Civil discourse? Nah you can keep it. Give me the status quo all day long. More enjoyable to see people's true opinions and sense of humor. If all we had to talk about were concrete specs, then this thread would be about three pages long.

It would be great if this thread was only 3 pages. That way I wouldn't have to sift through tons of pages of opinions that constantly clash. It would be nice if someone could point me to a thread about the bionic with no opinions being forced on people looking for info on the God damn phone!

The info we have is as good as everyone else's. There's nothing a quick Google search won't tell you that you'll learn from these boards.

Best of our Knowledge at this time:

4.3 to 4.5 inch screen. Probably Pentile qHD
OMAP Processor possibly 4430 or 4460 clocked at 1.2 GHZ
1 Gig of Ram (assuming DDR2)
Webtop capable
Motoblur 3D
Gingerbread
8 MP Camera with the same upgrade that the Droid 3 has (which has gotten good reviews)
FFC (not sure what the mp is, originally was 0.3mp. Nothing has told us it will be higher)
Not sure if I am forgetting anything, someone correct me if I am wrong or missing any information.

0.3mp Front Facing Camera would be a disapointment after all the new phones seem to be at least 1.3mp.
Don't know that its a deal breaker since I'm not sure how practical a FCC is in the current world of software. Only good for self portraits (facebook)?.
With data caps can't see a whole lot of Skyping or maybe a weaker camera would use less data.

I think he meant 1.3.

0.3 would be absurd.

I wish I was wrong. But the Original CES Bionic was going to launch with a 0.3mp FFC. We have not heard of any upgrades to the FFC as of yet. Not saying there hasn't been, but there is nothing out there to support that it has been upgraded. I think we all agree it should be.

It was a 0.3 MP ffc. Lol

Did they up it to 1.3 on the Atrix? That would be about the closest comparison wouldn't it?
Or maybe the Photon.
Surely they would have not known how archaic they would be with just a 0.3mp FCC.

The 0.3 rating on the FFC is actually just a conversion. The Photon, Atrix and (CES) Bionic are listed to have VGA (Video Graphic Array) Camera's. The old standard of VGA was not rated by MP. Resolution of a VGA camera is 640 x 480 which would equate to having a pretty good clear image up to about the 5" range if printed off, and are well known for using little storage space, so on a 4.3 inch screen it would look pretty good. I hope this clears things up a little bit.

Chinsey compared to whats out on the market today!
I wonder if this would turn some buyers off.
Again I am in no way familiar with the practical uses of the FCC anyway.

It was my understanding that the 4430 is clocked at 1GHZ and the 4460 is at 1.2-1.5 GHZ, therefor leaving the 4430 out unless its overclocked. I think it would be the 4440 or the 4460 which would be awesome. Or even better the 4470 @ 1.8GHZ. Ok, ill stop dreaming. :D

As far as I know the 1.2 is just the speculated / educated guess. It may only be 1 GHZ. Here is some information on the 4430 vs the 4460: OMAP? 4 Platform - OMAP4430/OMAP4460
