Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

No it doesn't. It has a pretty large effect. With HTC's dual core phones, they were able to calculate that had the phone had a regular WVGA resolution, their scores would be the same as with the Tegra 2 phones.

I'm a little surprised by this. Are the benchmarks "overall" scores for the phone or are they broken down into "display" scores and "general phone performance" scores? If they're broken down, the non-display scores should still be high. I thought that's why there was a GPU...to remove this burden from the main processor. Is that not the case?

Yes but you were talking about hands on video ck style lol.

I can't locate any. One I found was removed at the request of Motorola mobility.

People have just started receiving them. Should see hands on videos within the week.

but are benchmarks really trustworthy? seems like they could manipulate the results of the testing to achieve a desired effect

Smartbench is one of the better ones for determining overall performance and it can't be manipulated to give favorable results. Not to say its perfect but it is one of the better ones.

PHIL do you have any new information about the VZW BIONIC, what come under the hood? please.

Dual core looking like 1gb ram. Will most likely be omap processor but ck says it may be tegra 2 supposedly vzw rep told best buy worker it was omap. That's about all anyone knows.

The screen still affects the CPU scores, because they usually involve driving stuff on the display. The higher res display requires the processor to work harder.

If so, wouldn't this be nominal, assuming the GPU is doing its job? But if it affects the overall processing performance a fair amount, then what exactly is the purpose if the GPU?

I think it would be real cool if the Bionic ran Chrome OS with a lapdock accessory or Webtop. Perhaps Motorola has plans for this in the future?

Isn't that kind of redundant? Chrome OS is for computers and Android is for phones, created by the same compant

It's just my opinion. If they're gonna use Google's OS in their phone and add Webtop and laptop dock functions, then why not use Google's Chrome OS to offer a Google phone that's more...well, Googley (is that a word? Haha.)?

It makes more sense than using Firefox don't you think. Since the Droid are Google-based phones, then why not add Chrome OS to the Webtop and laptop dock functions? Js.

Yea you do have a point, I forget Webtop incorporation into the scheme of things.

That's actually not a bad idea. It'd be cool if it was in a nexus phone.

Swyped from my Droid using Tapatalk.

Actually a pretty good idea......
