Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

I really need to stop looking at pictures of the Photon 4G. The more I look at it the more ticked off I get about the new Targa/Bionic we are getting. I know, I know, Several of you could care less what the phone looks like "as long as its got the specs" but I just really liked the CES form waaaaay better than this new thing that looks cobbled together. Yes, Cobbled Together!

I like Symmetry and the Photon 4G just seems well thought out. Chamfered corners, radiused top and bottom, not a lot of unused front real estate, when you hold the phone in Landscape it just looks like it was designed to fit in your hands.

The Targa/Bionic Just looks like they needed to fit a bunch of crap inside a phone and didn't care what it looked like, gave it no thought. What purpose does the bottom useless lip serve?

Okay I am done complaining...

The lip makes it a global phone.

I kid.

Lol, that would be a nice surprise. The Bionic Being a Global Phone would be awesome, but I have my doubts.

I thought Phil said a couple weeks ago he put in to get a Bionic to play with? Am I making that up or does anyone else remember that?

That's why carriers sell more than one phone - everyone has different tastes. :)

I agree the original Bionic did look nice - But I think the Photon looks silly. They should have called it the "Galactica", wasn't that BG where they clipped the corners of the paper so it would look futuristic?

I will really have to see the new Bioic in person to give a definitive opinion, but I generally prefer the more "Industrial" look that Motorolas have to something that is trying to look "pretty".

To each his own. ;)

I'm still not convinced the latest photos are going to be of the final product. Seems like everytime something leaks the Bionic takes on new form.

that was BMX, you cant rely on him for anything.

He has to ask his superiors if he can leak specs. Hes just a glorified middleman.

Hi! How's everybody doing. :p

So new stuff: Demo unit models are on order. That means the hardware's done. Set. Ready to go. Looking toward a July launch.

TTFN

Okay, this is what I was thinking of. For some reason I was thinking he was getting a demo phone, but I misread that.

He actually no longer works with Verizon, and is going to work for a company out in CA. He's hinted that it's Google, but I think he'll be on a much tighter leash now.

July

Yeah 7/7 would be amazing as I am up for my last NE2 on 7/17 and plan to take full advantage of it to purchase this bad boy. 4G has been in my area for just over a month and its expanding to the rest of the state I travel too, so all the Charge ads (Fathers Day, Special Promos) are killing my will to wait slowly. But that last New Every 2 I just have to use!

All that said - I think early July is a pipe dream.. but dream away little campers. I hope there is some truth to it.

Maybe we should ask a Verizon rep? <<Just Kidding>>

What fathers day promo for Charge?

If i can get my hands on one for 100, im on it.

If you read that "early July" article, it is basing it on the fact that Verizon is ending the free LTE Hotspot on July 6th, and that's all. Worthless.

My OG contract was 1/1/10 and I have been eligible for the NE2 for months now. They do that to lock you in again ASAP.

Maybe I'm missing something, but you should have been able to do an annual upgrade on 1/1/11, but you would not get your NE2 until around August or so of this year (approximately 20 months).

Verizon has done away with early upgrades if you sign a new contract as far as I know, meaning new contracts do not allow you do any upgrading until at least 20 months or so into your contract. Someone who bought the OG droid when it was released (Nov. '09) would have been eligible to upgrade a year from then, and would receive their NE2 right around now, give or take a month.

Ok guys lets start a new conversation.

This is something ive been wodnering for a long time.

With Ice Cream Sandwich coming out late Fall, it is believed that just like Honeycomb, all the buttons (home, back, etc) will be software based.

So my question is, if the current generation of phones sporting capacitive button are upgradable to icecream, what will happen to those buttons? Will they become wasted face space?

Also, again will software based buttons, and the removal of capacitive buttons from future devices, will we see alot of 4.5 or even 5inch screens in phones coming out with ICS?

On a different new conversation note: Has there been any hint or discussion of the possibility of SVDO being included in the Bionic? Simultaneous voice and data in a 3G only area would be a nice add!

Exclusive: Google Nexus 4G detailed - 720p display, 4G LTE, Android 4.0

I would think that Ice Cream Sandwich would include a setting that said something like "Use on-screen buttons or capacitive buttons" so older phones could still use ICS and not be redundant.

What fathers day promo for Charge?

You added 2 things there (there is a comma between them) Fathers Day Ad (comma) Promos

I was referring to stuff like the Amazon offering a little while back. Father's Day was just an Ad saying - hey this device has up to 11 hours of battery time and is 4G -- Buy now... you know you want too.. hit the Shiney Red Button!!!!!

Sorry for the confusion or glimmer of hope :)
