Bixby?

Not sure then. I'm still learning myself. I thought maybe out might have changed. Maybe redo it.

lol that is the redo.. Still doesn't work. Its like the news app is gone.. But i never could figure out what app it was executing and i don't remember uninstalling anything... And honestly I never had time to listen to the news.. I just want it to work as before... Now. It opens up music

Is News Today an app? If so, you need to specify that. I've been reading up and it looks like to need to be specific.

So edit to say "open News Today app and read current news"

It's young, and not very intuitive yet. It also has issues understanding/pronouncing many words. I'm hoping they keep making improvements, but right now it's WAAAAY behing Google and Siri...Cortana too.

You're 100% correct if you're trying to use Bixby to do what Google Assistant is designed to do. However, if you try to use Google Assistant to do what Bixby is designed to do, Google Assistant will appear to be way behind also. I'm not a big fan of Bixby, but I have to give it credit for some of the cool stuff it can do. I never use it, but the few times I have, it was kind of fun to see what all it could do with the phone. And like others have said, it has gotten better it seems each time I use it.

I used it on my 8 plus and using it on my Note kinda nice to have a few different options to use for info and voice control.

Exactly. If I have a question I use google assistant. If I want to turn something on or off or get into a setting I use Bixby. Has been working nicely for my. Although the voice wake up for Bixby almost never works for me. I use the button.

But thats one of the preset quick commands.. I just selected from the list

Re: Another Bixby question

I know...but It only works with some apps though. I'm wondering if there some other way to get it to work with all applications. Hopefully there will be more integrated apps in the future with it. Like Spotify, waze, Shazam, to name a few.
Go into settings to Bixby Labs. There are other apps you can turn on if you havent already.

My state will start enforcing a very strict "don't touch your phone when you drive" law -- you can't even touch the thing while you're sitting at a red light. The main thing I want to do is "Launch Shazam" when I hear a song on my XM Radio, and Shazam is set up to start listening when I open the program. I presume I would need to "Close Shazam" so I could re-launch it again, but that's why I'm thinking about giving Bixby a try. I sure don't want to say "Bixby," though -- what a stupid name! I'll try to get it to start with some other name.

Welcome to socialism. California by chance?

People throw that word around and truly have no clue what it means. Laws meant to not have other drivers be killed cause you can't stop for 5 seconds looking at your phone has nothing to do with socialism.... Just in case you can't find the dictionary, I've helped you out

I heard Bixby is getting an update. Did it solve this?
I havn't received an update since the 2cnd week of having the note 8 around Sept 16 or so. But I have still occasionally encountered this issue mostly when using a Bluetooth earpiece or headphones.

I think his point around socialism and states heavily regulating whether citizens can even "touch" their phone in the car or not (which is stupid) centers around the fact that in socialistic societies there's a overriding subordination of the people to the judiciary or government that shows a far lower respect for privacy and a more extensive control over citizens private life. It's a big brother knows best mentality - yeah right. He's not wrong when stating that about California and LOL when doing so.

Now back on topic, I actually love Bixby and us it to control a series of macros centered around actual functionality of our phones throughout my day. It's not even about safety in a car as touch my phone in a car is no less safe than touching the GPS or Stereo or variety of in-dash systems my vehicle already has. It's about convenience.

Ditto!

Bixby is garbage, I've tried a hundred times to register my voice for voice wake-up and it says it can't hear me. Never had a problem with Siri.

Bixby is great. Best ai tool out there. Spend some time and you can tame her and make time saving macros and more.
