Blackberry Storm to Thunderbolt... who else?

Rockin the original storm 1 (first one too, never replaced it). I'm eagerly waiting for the thunderbolt....

I was lucky enough (mind you, thats a relative term) to have my Storm 1 just stop working sometime in November (and get this because I DID the one single update the phone got, they were unable to fix it) and due to the Storm 1 no longer being in production I got a 2 to replace it through the insurance. So I'm a bit better off... still hate this phone.

Storm 1 here.... my lock and unlocked doesnt work right.... silencing is a big failure.... i hate the phone so much

Storm 2 here :( Anxiously waiting to ditch BB for my first Android experience. Be it the DeadBolt or newer.

I have a Storm 1 and I have removed just about every single app except for Facebook and MemoryBooster to hold me over until the Thunderbolt comes. I was thinking of waiting for the Bionic, but I don't think it's possible at this point.

Storm 2 from Storm 1 and have replaced about 12 times.....i Shat you not! So many issues its hard to go thru them. I just wanted the device to be flawless, especially the sure press......never happened. On to the TB it is! my girl gave in and got the Inc. yesterday.....shes not thattechy so i couldnt talk her into waiting.....she was rocking a S1......that thing was shot! I get to play with Droid now and at night she cant get it out of my hand.....the phone that is.....moving on.....im sooooo pumped to have Droid and finally realize what a ****** i was for thinking S2 would be some mythical fix from S1....what a jackass. Lets hold tight and wait for the goods!

It's amazing to see how many people are still on the S1. I had the S1 two weeks after it came out and used it for around a year with one replacement due to the screen giving out. I really liked the device, except the battery pulls.

Somehow I ended up with an upgrade after a year and was leaning towards the S2 then I got wind of the D1. Went to my local rep and started asking him about the two and he just smiled and told me I may want to wait until the D1 became available and play with the two side by side. Long story short, the TBolt will be my 3rd Android device and I have loved everyone of them. I hope you all have the same experience as I have had with my Droids.

BB Storm1 (2nd phone). When I get the TB I'm going to celebrate by destroying my Storm. I'm either going to drop if off the roof of my work building (11 stories) or take it to the gun range. What do you guys think?

I'm not going to miss the daily battery pulls. I mean c'mon. Good thing I've never had to dial 911. I'm certain that if an emergency arose I would frantically attempt dialing while the little busy clock animation is spinning around.

Had 5 storm 1's and just shattered the screen last weekend on my last one. I didn't mind it: had a hybrid os that ran really smooth, os6 theme that was smooth, quicklaunch rebooted phone for me every morning, and did the screen mod trick that made the click screen useable.

Now using my girlfriend's old 8330 curve with a hybrid os that looks and runs just like the newer curves. Helluva lot faster and cooler than the latest official os from verizon. Should hold me over till the tbolt comes around!

Was going to start a new thread, but found this one instead which is close enough....

I have had my BB Storm (9530) for over two years now. It's been the best and worst phone all rolled up into one (best in that it was my first smart phone -- worst in that it's rebooted twice when I'm on the phone with my supervisor from work.)

I realize battery may be an issue -- at least at first -- but I learned from the Storm experience that battery life tends to improve with software updates.

The things I'm hoping the Thunderbolt has over the Storm is longer-term support beyond a few months (Android and HTC seem to be doing a good job here, and if not, there's always mods like Cyanogen); better memory (my Storm is always asking me to remove applications); and a better overall experience. With the Storm 1 it seemed that a few months after getting it, when the Storm 2 came out, the Storm 1 was abandoned to antiquity.

With all the (debateable) delays and rumors on the Thunderbolt, I'm starting to worry that the Thunderbolt may potentially be another Storm. I want to learn from my experience with the Storm, but I'm afraid that I'm missing the take-away from that experience.

Everything I've read and researched tells me the Thunderbolt is the next phone for me (unless the Droid Incredible 2 gets announced/comes out first since I'm not in an LTE zone and wont be for at least another year).

Can anyone else relate here? Am I the only one who is trying to determine if history is repeating itself? Trying to have a good discussion on this phone's real qualities (and trying to stay away from the release date quagmire.)

Thanks.

I can relate to everything you said. I think the TB issues are all LTE based. It is new technology. There is a thread on another site that was referenced here from a Guy who got a review TB. He is not in an LTE area and he loves it. He is coming from a droid x. He is getting at least the same battery life that he sees on the x and he has confirm voice and data on the 3g network. If I can get to a pc I will post the link here. Long thread but the guy gives a lot of good info and really is answering about any question anyone asks.

wow, wondered how many other Storm users where here in the forum...

But yeah have a Storm1 its the second hand set. First one went belly up about a 8-10 months ago. Now I am limping along with this one and its starting to get really bad. BBM locks up all the time or will lock me out the phone needs constant quick pulls or sometimes cant even do that and have to hard pull it.

And thats not even going in to the problems I have with there software... and even if I want to DL some after market apps to there is no free memory. god I need a new phone.

Storm brewing

I am another one of the very rare that has mostly enjoy my Storm. I did have a brief run with android, with the Fasci, and it was a pretty phone...until I learned about no Noise Cancelling!!!?? I did experience that Android's openess can be dangerous with stability and battery life(if you don't know what you are doing)

I actually wish that BB would get there QNX relations sorted out and start releasing competitive touch-friendly phones. I think they are slow playing their strategy so they do not follow in line with Android. Apple releases one phone a year and it sets the bar...BB makes a few and is falling behind due to a restructure...but Android has slung there wares all over the place and a lot of the phones are crap(mostly the low end models).

I'm hoping TB is worth the wait...but I am guessing that it will have some let downs and I will be forced to jump to Apple or wait for next-gen BBs.

Storm 2 owner. Its been an ok device. The battery pulls are frustrating and RIM's lack of foresight is almost criminal. I am patiently waiting on the Thunderbolt to set me free.

Storm 2 owner, and cant wait to be done with it. It actually is a good phone, but BB is justs not moving forward with their phones (in my opinon). The TB is going to be such an upgrade...hope it is soon, am dying to get my hands on it. A little worried about the battery, but also I think it will be so worth it. Come on TB!!!

I am struggling with a Tour here. Second one. Between having to have quickpull reset every night to daily battery pulls and getting random message icons for messages that do not exist and that do not go away (have to do a battery pull and hope they disappear), I cannot wait to heave this thing out the window. Or maybe off a bridge... What do you think, GW or Brooklyn? I like the classic looks of the Brooklyn bridge, but the shininess of the GW should reflect the nicked shiny accents of this horrible device well as it plummets to a watery grave.
