Blackberry Storm to Thunderbolt... who else?

Storm 1 owner. It's my fourth replacement, so it's my 5th Storm. I just cracked the bottom of the screen last week, so I really hope the phone comes out soon.

Storm 1 user, till about 6 months ago, then took my gf's storm 2. while she went over to an android device. Now I am "patiently" waiting for the TBolt to release so I can get one myself. I have been loathing the Storm line up since about 2 weeks after I got my Storm 1. Cant wait to finally dump it!

I had the storm 1 for over a year then upgraded to the Storm 2 (my current phone) and have had that for a year. Can't wait for the switch to Android! Hurry up TB!!!

Storm 1 - been taking care of it which means not doing anything with it it can;t handle. It hasn't changed, but I have. Time for a bolt

Me and wifey Still rocking a set of storm 1's we bought on release day, second handset 1st ones screen pixelated soon after we got them. After that they were ok except the memory issues, battery pulls and slow browser. The software updates helped but once warranty was over I started using hybrids on mine some worked good others didn't. they were our first BB and our last since rim to slow to keep up with tech. They do build a quality phone i'm kinnda ruff with phone use, drops and ect. only had a silicone sleeve when out of a nylon niteize case. SO I hope this thunderbolts holds up for me!!!LOL if I ever get a chance to get one!!!

Storm 1 here. I haven't really had any problem waiting since 11/23, and have been quite patient until recently. I understand VZW wanting to get this right, as it's their first flagship device since the Storm 1, which was my second bad dumbphone decision in a row, after the black Q. After those, never another Moto device, never another BB, and never another 2 year contract. After the bad Storm decision, it almost makes me want to wait this out even more, since it's clear that the TB will be virgin tight when it comes out.

Past the 17th though, I'm not sure I won't jump ship to another phone. I'm not on the outdated-TB train though, because really, tell me how much more you're really going to be able to do with another phone that you can't wait out your one year contract or -- especially when you'll get what you paid for it + 50. And Motoblur shouldn't even be competition...their hardware has been consistently horrible for years.

And this BB...I'm so tired of it that I've had a new OS shrunk and installed on my machine ready to install, but I can't bother with any more maintenance on this thing. Just a weekly sync and backup and I'll suffer through the damn hourglass.

Man o man, where do I begin, I went from a captivate to a "temporary" storm 1 while waiting for the bolt come out. For all you who have been using this "phone" since launch day, I would like to personally buy each and everyone one of you a drink of your choice. However, I will very clearly let you know right now that you have NOT been using a smart phone all this time. When you get your android phone, you will know what I mean. This phone is the most pathetic attempt of being smart out of all the phones I have ever used. The ONLY thing this thing does well is push notifications. That is all

I'm also upgrading from a Storm 1. My NE2 date was 24 Feb and I was originally going to upgrade that day to a Droid X, but a week or so before I heard about the T-Bolt. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the release so I can dump this crappy phone.

Storm 1 to Storm 2 to Thunderbolt here. At least I hope so. I have about 2-3 months before my upgrade is up, but my work buys my phones, and they've said they'll buy me a new one if the 4G data plans aren't too much, because my phone is almost completely unusable now.

For my S2, I'm running one of the hybrids that are out there, because before that, I had an awful memory leak, and i'd be lucky to get 3 hours out of my battery. I actually carry around 3 fully charged batteries when I travel for work, even though the stupid thing is off on the plane.

I'm super excited for this phone, since I've been following it since CES.

I gotta say, I must be the only one out there, but I truly love my Storm 9530. I have had it for 21 months now, and I have only had one, no replacements ever needed. But my NE2 was up on the 13th, and since then I have needed more QuickPulls, and my battery has needed more charging (was 48 hours until the 13th). I think the phone knows it's days are numbered. I have wanted a Storm 3, but it looks like the replacement is not due until July/August, or later, and Sure-Press is sadly missing, and the specs are nothing special. I like the idea of 4G, but then VZW seems to be saying that NJ will not get it this year. But I really think the Thunderbolt looks like a fine replacement at this point.

Waiting.......

No you're not the only one. I've had my original Storm1 since Dec 2008 and I really loved the phone. Only gave me problems in the last 6 or so months.

I am still on my original Storm 1 and I think I deserve a prize from BB. I have had a new every two upgrade waiting on me since August. I will be all over the Thunderbolt like.........., well you know what I mean. BB has really blown it and they are dropping long term BB customer like me and will probably never get them back.

I've been having my NE2 sice July and was waiting on something from RIM on VZW that I could upgrade to but there wasn't anything out there I liked. I fell for the Merge back in the fall and was gonna get it when it was suppose to come out in Nov 10, but it just dissappeared from the radar. I got my kids phones updated in Dec10 and did a new contract but I was waiting on something better than what they had out at the time and now the TB is what I'm waiting for.

Rockin the original storm 1 (first one too, never replaced it). I'm eagerly waiting for the thunderbolt....

I've waited this long, I guess I can wait another week.

Storm 1 to a TB here. Original Storm from 2/2009. Tried to go to an incredible last summer, but the back ordering snafu caught me, and by the time I could get one, they'd downgraded the screen, etc. By the time I was ready to spend $$ - I started reading about phones with front facing cameras and thought - hey, I can upgrade my storm software and wait this thing out. Then there was this screen shot of the expiration dates in the VZW system and all these fancy phones "expire" March 31, 2011. I thought, let's just tough it out. Come on Thunderbolt! I really wish we had more competition so we could turn the heat up on VZW. I had thought about an Iphone for the FFC, but I really want the control and more open platform of the Android, and less of the dummied-down factor. Too bad for Blackberry, they really dropped the ball. The memory management of my Storm has always sucked. There has to be better way, and the Storm seems to really fit the bill, at least for now.

WHAT I WILL MISS ABOUT BB:

Auto on/off at night while on the charger(can't understand why google has not included this in their OS?)

Level of customization within stock OS(Android seems to really limit how much you can tweak within OS)

Physical camera button(just prefer the hold/click of an actual button)

Lock/unlock button(still not sold on the whole swipey swipe gesture)

Short list I guess....anyone else have something that will be missed?

Sound profiles. My girlfriend has the Fascinate and I don't believe it's anywhere as customizable as my storm was in relation to different sounds and vibrations for different message types

I have my 9530 and been holding out for a HTC on Verizon I liked. Also I am a BES admin and have been for many years. Needed to find a secure replacement. Running Good Technology in tandem with BES now and my CIO is happy to have is iThing back that I took away when I started.

Another thing, do all androids charge as slow as the Fascinate? My storm charged much faster than the Sammy does, both using the same wall charger.

I'm switching from a Bold. Just for something new. My Bold and prior BB's have been great and I even like the new OS6. Its just time for a change, I'm kind of a tech junkie.

Switching from a Storm 9530, have had my upgrade available since october and have been PATIENTLY waiting since then. Have had to fight off family members from using my upgrade!

Planning on Thunderbolt from my Storm 9530. NE2 was up in December, so this waiting is driving me crazy. IT finally agreed to non-BB devices, so Thunderbolt is what I've had my eye on. Storm has actually been pretty good for me especially with newer OS leaks. Battery needed to be replaced, but that is a $3 issue easily fixed at eBay. Meterberry does a reboot every morning at 4:30 and this has kept things pretty snappy on my phone, but I'm ready for a change. I really like running Endomondo on my Storm when out on bike rides. Hoping I can get at least 4 hours of GPS use out of the TB battery.

I've had my BB 9530 for 2 years and while it runs fine and I've not had to replace it at all, I'm not feeling the urgency for needing this phone- I want this phone. I'm frustrated, as we all are, at Verizon's silence and Best Buy's laundry list of phony release dates. I'm eager for the phone's actual release and for life to return to some kind of normal. This will be my first Android phone and I'm excited.
