Check out the HTC 10 at Verizon store on Friday!! Anyone?

Also went to preorder on Verizon website and its tinkering with my account. I just want to buy the phone and its upping my plan by 30 bucks a month...what the heck gives with that?

I'm sorry but this is one of the reasons I dumped Verizon - I don't want to turn this thread into a hate on Verizon but when you have a monster company like this they just don't care.
FYI - I went to check out the 10 @ my local Verizon place and they were all over me - I politely said No thank you I am a T-Mobile customer, just wanted to check out the phone LMAO - It was like I immediately turned into a leper.
Also I love the phone - can't wait till mine comes.

At least you got to touch a live working model. :-\

I even select the full retail price on Verizon webpage and it upped my contract by 10 bucks. I thought being out of contract I should be able to bring whatever phone I want. Should I not be able to buy directly from HTC and switch sim cards and go on my merry way?

I just stopped on the Verizon store and had some hands-on time with the 10. I like how it feels to hold the phone (It took about 5 minutes to convince the sales rep to take the theft device off). The phone feels lighter than I thought it would, although my current phone is a ballistic nylon Droid turbo so I'm used to a bulkier phone. I didn't notice any problems with the build quality and the screen colors looked accurate to my eyes. Verizon had the brightness cranked up to eleven so I lowered it all of the way down then back up to find where I liked it. Overall the screen seems darker than my Turbo. I usually keep mine at about 40%, with the HTC 10 I'll probably keep it at about 70%. The phone was as quick and responsive as I expected and the fingerprint sensor seemed very snappy. I did not play with the camera (AC did that in exhaustive detail already).

TL;DR I like it enough to upgrade. For $550, with HTC uh oh protection and being able to keep unlimited data, I pre-ordered it. It did cost 56 dollars up front (36 for taxes and 20 for the upgrade fee).

You are a brave man for going into one of their stores in NYC.
With the VZ wireline guys on strike and picketing out front I will wait till their strike is over, and hey who knows maybe they will have the phone in the stores by then!
I just read that you will able to get the vz model of the phone from HTC direct.
Probably the safer way to go that to cross that line of angry people!

Besides "quality" one of the reasons may be the extra number of pixels (around 200/sq in) to push. it has to break the light through. IPhone is only 720p on 4.7in panel and 6s+ 1080p on 5.5. Moto XPE has probably "lower quality" than 6s+ but looks much brighter to me.
Also ,my wife's v10 had a somewhat dimmed display even at 100% but after the update it's significantly brighter.
So, we'll see

Moto XPE/VZW Moto X DE/N7

Agreed. Having an iPhone 6s for work I can attest to that. IPhone is way brighter at 50% than the HTC 10. I like the build quality, but that isn't enough. Also, the auto focus on the camera is much slower than the S7.

The iPhone 6s is not even as bright as my M9. Just checked it yesterday with a friend's 6s and the iPhone also has a yellow tint to it.

I can attest to that, too. I put my 6s Plus on the table at 40-50% brightness next to the HTC 10 at 40-50% and fired up the Google search homepage on Chrome on both. My iPhone was MAYBE a little bit brighter. But the 10's whites were bright white, while my iPhone's were yellow.

Haha I know this feeling all too well! I especially hate it when they think they're educating you when in fact they're giving wrong information.

At the store now. Not that impressed, personally. Screen brightness is not great. Sound quality through headphones sounded muddy.

It was a demo unit and you need to turn off the custom audio profile that someone was monkeying around with. It's not a big deal, and an easy oversight. Even Jerry Hildenbrand accidently had the Boomsound audio profile turned on when he sampled the M9 audio.

First thing I'm doing when I get my 10 is powering it on and taking it outside for sunlight usability test. If I can't see anything on the screen, it's getting sold off and I'll grab an S7. It's one thing a phone looking bright indoors, but once you get outside it's a whole different story. Like the Nexus 6 I had for a week. It was fine and bright inside, but as soon as I stepped outdoors, whatever was on screen disappeared.

I checked it out at the VZW store today(even though I am with AT&T). It's a sweet phone. The salesperson said it was "a solid phone" and they expect to move a lot of them. Anyway, fast, fluid and the display was almost as bright as my 6s plus, but not quite. I didn't even think the resolution difference was obvious between my 6s + and the 10. It didn't seem to have too much bloat at all (wonder if that's because it was and demo model??).Anyway, I thought it might pull me from Apple, but I'm not sure. It seems like a great phone. The unlocked version would be nice, but as much as Android interests me, I can't stay with the OS that long.

i checkout out phone at store near home (buying it on sprint) and liked the weight phone was a little warm probably from eing on all the time os moved nice and smooth just need the 13th to roll around quickly

Just checked it out. Spend about 35 minutes running it through its paces. Convinced the sales rep to take it off the security dock so I could get a real feel for it.
Pros
Sturdy and elegant. HTC has nailed the aluminum chassis. Fantastic construction and the glass disappears nicely into the edge of the phone. My m8 has a noticeable gap at the transition.
Boomsound speakers gone. I kind of like this. Leaves more real estate for the screen and a point of contention on my m8 was them getting dirty and muffling sound. External audio was simply OK. Not fantastic, but certainly no slouch. Plugged in my headphones and the DAC made the most of what my tiny speakers had to offer. Sounds even better than the boom sound on the m8.

Processor and apps were FAST. I couldn't stress the phone out. I changed apps and settings as fast as I could as often as I could. Phone was snappy and responsive and multi tasking was no issue. Sense was simple. A minimal Verizon suite is all I saw on the phone. Gone were the heavy memory draining apps that I typically find.

Cons-
Screen is just OK. It doesn't reach out and slap me in the face like the s7. I mean it's good, it truly is, but in terms of brightness which was to be honest not bad and clarity it just didn't pop.
Camera
SLOW. Pictures looked good once the app finally opened and auto adjust did it's thing. High intensity light produced the glare and optic lense flairs that has plagued htc so that's no big surprise there. If you are wanting to capture special moments don't be surprised if they pass you by. Still shots and macros looked amazing, zoom shots produced a much clearer picture than previous models. I'd give the camera a 7/10. Not bad but snapping pics on the fly won't be easy.
Price.
At roughly the same price as the s7 I don't think it can compete. It is a premium phone, unfortunately there are better premium phones out and more coming later this year.

If this phone had launched end of 2015 even January of 2016 I think it could have got the ground running. It truly is a solid phone. I think someone could use this device for easily the next 2-3 years. It unfortunately as a flagship launched too late. For the same price not counting the 100 dollar rebate you can have the s7 which simply to me is more phone. With Walmart offering the s7 at 23 dollars a month is a no brainer.

Selling my s7 so it competes just fine for me. S7 is a lag fest, loved the smooth htc 10 on the demo unit.

I haven't purchased one yet, but from the time I've been able to spend with them they seem just as fast. Touchwiz isn't as heavy handed as previous versions which was always a turn off for me. What kind of lag did you experience? Were you running Nova or another launcher or the stock ui?

Verizon wants to give me 300 for the turbo and I am very tempted to upgrade. I just hope earpiece volume and signal is better with the 10.

It has to do with battery life.

I doubt it have to do with battery life. People compare cuz they prefer one over the other. AMOLED is best for watching movies, youTube on mobile an experience you can't get from LCD.. This is more notable to people who changes phone too often. I love HTC 10 but I would be loved more and maybe I've called it perfect for me if it had AMOLED display.. I had One A9 and it AMOLED blends so well with black front. and also wallpapers looks amazing as well as Videos.. LCD is great too but not great for watching movies etc.

Youtube on Mobile could be 640x480 for all I care. Nobody expects a cinematic experience on a tiny screen. And people who've been using 3.5" to 4" iOS devices for the last ... 7 years?

Worst argument ever. AMOLED sucks. Pixels literally die in the you use it, and it is highly inefficient displaying white. As pixels degrade, the resolution actually degrades as well. And it is rightly being skipped over by Quantum Dot.

What...?

People stare at their phone screens for literally hours a day. Evidenced by everyone on these forums trying to get 5+ hour SOT. It's 2016, most people would rather have the best phone display rather than the best TV display. YouTube at 1440p on my Note 5 (basic screen mode) looks gorgeous.

If you'd like to be objective, please enlighten us on the 10's pink tint, dimmer display, and subpar refresh rates leading to ghosting (in 2016!). Why do these properties not "suck"?
