Hey everyone,

I thought it might be helpful for people to have a thread that compares soft keyboards. I've seen some in the past, but many times they don't do that well a job of actually comparing keyboards, they usually reduce to people giving their preferences for a certain keyboard without given too many reasons why. I've compiled a list of features that should help compare the important features of keyboards. Feel free to add categories, and I'll update the list accordingly. Here's the list:

1. Handles "I" and "a":
2. Auto spacing style:
3. Highlight style for tapped buttons:
4. wiping/tracing allowed:

5. Accuracy/leniency:
6. Dictionary deletion/addition:
7. Delete stock dictionary words:
8. Next word prediction (without a tap):
9. Word choice style:

10. Skinnable:
11. Static or Dynamic keyboard shape:
12. Resize keyboard:

Additional benefits:
Additional drawbacks:

SLIDEIT KEYBOARD

1. Handles "I" and "a": Must press space before "I" or "a"
2. Auto spacing style: auto spaces in front of the new word after you finish the word
3. Highlight style for tapped buttons: slight color highlight only, no big box above tapped letters
4. wiping/tracing allowed: Yes

5. Accuracy/leniency: Not bad, better than shapewriter, not as good as swype
6. Dictionary deletion/addition: yes, easy
7. Delete stock dictionary words: YES (never see a word you don't want to ever again!)
8. Next word prediction (without a tap): No
9. Word choice style: Horizontal box, slideable to the left/right if the options are many

10. Skinnable: ???
11. Static or Dynamic keyboard shape: Static
12. Resize keyboard: YES (great for adjusting it for our small optimus screens)

Additional benefits: Good keyboard, relatively easy to use with one hand. Also, you can program SHORTCUTS with this keyboard, so you can set tracing the letters IDK to auto writing out the whole phrase "I don't know." This saves time if there are phrases or things you type out a lot.
Additional drawbacks: "???" pops up when the trace wasn't close enough, that bugs, it should give me anything, that's better than nothing.

Theme Gingerbread Swype

It took me some long searching for but i finally got it right. But the voice input don't work.

I like swype, but the problem is with it, and most other keyboards is that they take up way too much space on the screen. The optimus screen is tiny, so keyboard resizing is a major feature I'm looking for in any keyboard. Swype seems to also lack other advances features as well that other keyboards have now.
