Chrome Casting Warning

I just tried again with my app and this time proceeded past the initial notice and then got this same as in your OP.

To be frank, I think this is just a generic nag message built into Google Home because they always think they have to control/nanny us. I would just tap start now and not give it any more thought.

I'm glad to hear someone else got it. As for Google Home I cleared cache and data and Uninstaller it then reset chromecast dongle then reinstalled Home from Playstore, set up Chromecast again from scratch and still go the second message.

Complaints began with the Pixel in 2019 so by now we should all have it or none of us should.

Thanks for sharing though.

If it happens to more and more users I'll know it is legit.

I get the same warning on my Note 20 Ultra when I screen mirror to a Miracast capable device. Don't have the warning on older phones, must be something that got added to Android.

Thanks so much for letting me know. Perhaps I can use my Chromecast again. Odd that only some of us have it?

Strangely I do not get it from miracast, only Chromecast. Something must trigger it.

And why does it mention recording?

I also get the warning in question on my Note 10+. I, too, believe that the message is just trying to get the point across that, if you show personal information on your phone screen while screen-sharing, it will also be shown on the TV and others may see it.

My guess is it's a mix of varying app versions, and that most people probably don't use that function to begin with to see that notice. I've never mirrored, and always used casting built into individual apps as needed.

Yes most modern television sets allow direct mirroring eliminating the need for that function.

When I use the quick toggle to enable smart view and select a device to cast to I get the pop up at the bottom. Only on my Note 20 Ultra. It happens both on a Belkin Miracast device that is over 5 years old and my TCL Roku enabled TV.

I don't have access to Chrome cast right now or I'd test it.

Mine doesn't say anything about recording I noticed.

My phone is a Verizon branded, it may make a difference.

Mine is too. I think you have the normal message in the blue box?

Can you take a svreenshot?

Oh you did take a screenshot. I don't get a smart view message only a Chromecast message.

I did get the message only when hit cast and mirrors the device to the tv screen, not sure you can eliminate that like mooncatt mentioned.

Like you I get the first message followed by the second one.

I use smart view often with no message at all so that one could be in the next update.

At least I know now it isn't a hack. The message looks so odd I was concerned and of course Chromecast does not record so I don't really get the logic of that message.

AFAIK nobody has found a way to get rid of it. Now we know for sure resetting Chromecast and Home has no effect.

You saved me needlessly buying a new phone!

Thanks everyone.

The recording refers to screen recording your phone. The message seems to be a generic one programmed for use when either screen recording OR screen casting. It is not referring to you recording on a chromecast. The message pops up when I am using the built in screen recorder on my S10+. It is a nag screen and nothing to worry about.

I've gotten that message when I turn on the stock cast button on my phone. I read that warning once or twice. I don't pay it any mind. It did stop me in my tracks but, I have warmed up to the warning.
