Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

hahah...nice april fools joke. your mock up looked so nice i actually went to the website to double check!

Yea, I know... sorry guys :) Figured I'd throw a little something in for today, as I'm sooooo waiting for the Incredible.
But I can't give the pic credit, someone on FB on the HTC fan page did it. I must say, I did the same and checked the site! LOL.. He got me too! :D

it's all good....i got all excited in hopes it was true.....i cant wait for this sucker to release.....i love the UI and all the great specs that are coming for the Incredible, but i'm still researching the nexus one. not sure which one i'll go with just yet. curious to see what verizon has in store for the nexus one. i wonder if the build quality of the nexus one will be similar to the incredible? anyone know?

There damn well better be. I don't care if they just say 'It'll be out on this date'. At this point its better than what they're giving us.

Looks like its a photo-shopped Legend, not the Incredible.

Hmm. That makes sense. I guess if there were actual pics they'd be plastered all over by now. I must say; it's going to be a hard decision choosing between Incredible and Nexus One. Still think I'm leaning towards Nexus One.

For me, it's going to come down to how it's priced (subsidized or not), and what plans are available (I currently have a family plan w/ 2 lines).

edit: And yeah, I'm still leaning towards the N1 also. But I'm not paying $530 for it, and I gota have the family plan.

Since its officially approved by VZW, it'll be subsidized. The big difference is going to be how gimped the incredible is. Its processor will probably be downclocked, but who knows what features of 2.1 it will (or won't) have.

Maybe I'm being superficial but I just can't get over the oddly contoured backside of the Incredible. What's the purpose? I'm guessing they wanted to shave as much bulk as possible but damn. I'm wondering how this device will feel in hand.

I'm with you here. Don't really mind the red accents, but that back cover doesn't impress me much. To me, the Nexus One is clearly the more attractive device. Trackball won't be an issue because on an all touchscreen device I see no use for it anyway.

Sorry, I meant the Nexus One. We need to see if it will be subsidized or not. Yes, of course the Incredible will be subsidized since it will be sold in VZW stores. The big question is the N1 since it's sold direct from Google. Will it be subsidized? Will we be able to get a family plan with it? If both of these are yes, then that's what I'm getting. The other question would be, will you also receive your New Every Two, but I'm guessing probably not. At this point though, I'll give up that to get the N1, as long as my other two "requirements" are met. :)

The VZW N1 will be subsidized, just as the T-mobile version is. The AT&T version is not because AT&T was not involved in approving the handset for their network in any way. (only allowing unlocked versions compatible with AT&T 3G and with an AT&T SIM card on their network)

Who knows about the other questions though. Since we don't know if it was T-mobile or Google that demanded the plans be set up as they are for the N1, its hard to say how VZW will approach it. (Does T-mo even have something like NE2?)

Sounds reasonable. But I don't think we really know for sure yet. I was rather surprised to see that the AT&T version was not subsidized. And that got me worried about the possibility that VZW would not have a subsidized version also. Again, hopefully you're right, but we'll have to wait and see.

It seems strange that you are required to purchases a very specific plan. Not even one that costs more! But again, hopefully Verizon lets us have a bit more flexibility. I can't go back to a single-line plan since both my wife and I have cell phones. Well, I could (two single-line plans) but I'm not doing that as it would end up costing at least $20/mo. more than a family plan w/ 2 lines.

NE2? Who knows. But I *think* it's only worth $50, so it's not that big of a deal. And I might actually be able to apply it to my wife's phone which will end up being one of the "multimedia" phones.

The 'AT&T' version is different though, because it has nothing to do with the carrier. Its a regular unlocked Quad-band phone. The VZW version undoubtedly has full carrier support and approval, while the AT&T version wouldn't. There also wouldn't really be a reason to not be subsidized, because you can only use it on so many carriers, while the 'AT&T' version could be used on any GSM carrier with those frequencies.

Those people who go with the incredible may be happier during the first 3 months with the phone but then when the Nexus One gets 2.2 or 3.0 and everyone with the incredible is still sitting with 2.1 update 1, that is when they will realize the advantage of the N1.
