Connecting Chromecast directly to speakers with HDMI ARC

Can I connect Chromecast directly to speakers that has HDMI ARC but not any HDMI input?

For example Philips Fidelio BTS 7000 (Philips Fidelio E2). This speakers has HDMI ARC for connecting to TV, but my TV does not support ARC. I need Chromecast for audio streaming only anyway, so i thought if it is possible to connect them directly to HDMI ARC on speakers.

Would this work, or would i have to connect Chromecast to TV and send audio trough digital optical to speakers?

You could try and report back.

I kind of expect the lack of a video device to negotiate hdcp would be a problem. I could be wrong though. I would suggest using the TV'S HDMI.
