Has anyone else connected their S3 to a Mac yet? Did you have any issues?

First time doing this with software (other phones I've just connected and it mounts an external drive) and it's not working.

I downloaded and installed the Android File Transfer program. I connect my S3 and then run the program but it says there are no phones connected.

I played around with my friends New s3 and was able to connect to my MacBook pro and transfer some of my songs from iTunes thru doubletwist today so I don't see why you should have any problems

I dont know about the GSIII but on the GSII you had to go into settings>applications>development (developer settings) and enable USB debugging before a Mac would mount the on phone storage or the memory card. After that its just drag and drop like any mass storage device.

Thanks. Yeah, I have USB debugging on.

It's definitely something with my Mac. I connected to my virtual Win7 machine on my Mac and it freaks out with the installing new software pop-up over and over but never connects.

Took it to a Win7 laptop I had here and it connected without a problem.

Now it's gonna drive me crazy till I figure out what's going on with my Mac!

I'll be getting my S III sometime this week so hopefully I have no problems connecting to a MacBook Pro.

I did actually. Turns out you have to check Camera (PTP) mode instead of Media device (MTP) mode.

Once I connected and checked PTP, the Android File Transfer program auto-launched and i was in.

You don't need to be in debug mode either.

I am able to connect with USB and the PTP protocol... BUT I cannot create folders. Any ideas about that one?

I can create folders. Are you using the Android File Transfer program on your Mac? If you are, there's a folder icon with a + sign on the top right of the program bar. I was able to click it and create a folder.

I can also right click in the folder list and there's an option for "new folder".

Yes. I get an error message saying I cannot create a new folder... is there a setting I'm missing here?

That's strange. Hmm...there's no settings in the Mac Android program so I don't think you're missing anything there. Maybe try re-installing it?

Do you still have debug mode turned on in the GS3? Maybe that's causing the problem?

Have tried it with debugging on and off... I'll try re-installing the AFT program. Let you know...

So I'm trying to use DoubleTwist, but I'm having a hard time syncing my device. I selected Camera(PTP) as stated above, but nothing actually happens. I can't get my device to show up on my Mac, or the DoubleTwist Mac app. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue. I can't get my DoubleTwist or Keis to find my SIII at all. Anyone figured out a fix for this, PTP doesn't cut it.

That's so strange, I haven't had any problems at all with my MacBook pro with either my htc EVO or my Verizon s3. If anyone wants some help I'm really good with computers and could use teamviewer to help out, let me know.

It was either here or in XDA that someone wrote a string for terminal that turned off kies air. That worked once when I was restoring my phone to see if that was the problem since then no luck with USB but at least the wifi works. If it wasn't so dang slow though.

Sorry for the double post but I found an easy way to solve my problem. It seems that Kies Air client with Kies is the problem. If you just remove that component from your Kies program on your mac you should be able to sync just fine. The only problem is you won't be able to wifi sync anymore.

I was having a huge problem, then I reformatted my memory card and all was well.
