'Content hidden' lock screen notifications - S7 Edge: why don't they show details?

Re: 'Content hidden' lock screen notifications - S7 edge

I had the exact same issue. What I had to do was to re-enable lock scree security, for example I setup a pin. After entering the pin for the second time, I was presented with options of what to show (or hide) on the lock screen. I was then able to select show all. After that I just re-enabled Swipe unlock and Im now good to go.

Ah this was bomb. I was having such a hard time trying to figure out why I was seeing 'contents hidden' notifications on my lock screen. This fixed it.. Many thanks for posting.

Re: 'Content hidden' lock screen notifications - S7 edge

Hide content in some app notifications: If you want to have notifications on your lock screen, but hide sensitive information in some of those apps (like a messaging app), first enable lock screen notifications to show content as above. Then head into settings > notifications > ADVANCED. Here you can manage the notifications of each individual app. You can opt to hide content from the lock screen here for specific apps.

Tnx bro. It worked for me like a charm. Just need to follow your steps carefully.

Since Samsung keeps updating software and changing the settings around, I was able to go into Settings:Lock Screen and Security:Notifications on Lock Screen. Underneath is blue wording "Hide Content". Change to whatever you want. I changed to "Show Content". Hope this works for you.

For some reason the "Content on lock screen" setting on my Galaxy S7 keeps getting reset back to "Do not show notifications." Any thoughts on what may be causing this setting to keep changing automatically?

Thanks

Go to settings> display>scroll to the bottom and locate>looking for something else>select always on display and make sure its turned on then scroll down to >notifications and make sure it's on then go and tap on the word notifications, there you'll be able to toggle hide content... l hope this helps!

If none of the usual fixes work, its very likely there is another program that is overriding the system's own settings.

Do you have any virus/program managers installed? Some of them have similar settings to what you already have on your Anrdoid and can be the reason that your notifications are being hidden. Often the steps within a given program are very similar to those on Android and should help resolve the issue.
