Being a Police Officer

Well I must say being a Police Officer in Chicago is hard enough let alone watching over my favorite smart phone. The day I picked up my Incredible at Verizon they were out of cases so It went naked for the day. A few moments later I was wrestling around with a Burglary offender and my Incredible dropped from the pocket of my body armor to the concrete directly on it back side. All that happened was the rubber back cover got scuffed and the camera lens scratched. If I had the cover this could have been avoided. By the way the offender paid the price as well. LOL.

Gym horror

I was at the gym on one of the elliptical machines, gettin' my sweat on. I had the tunes going on the music app, the web browser open to m.androidcentral.com and just enjoying myself. Suddenly, the heavens align and shuffle mode plays my favorite tune. The arms go swinging faster, the legs start pushing harder and I lose all thought of the headphone cord that's attached to my Incredible, which is resting on the LCD display of the exercise machine. Before I know it the cord is tangled in my arm and all I see is a black, shiny obelisk twirling through the air. It lands on the ground with a pop and suddenly I see red, as if it's bleeding, after the battery cover and battery fly out. My heart sinks, my legs almost crumble and my eyes well up. I jump off the machine rushing toward my injured friend terrified to turn it over to check on the glass screen. To my relief, it's intact! I almost jump for joy noticing that the phone isn't even scratched! WHEW! That was close! I need a case bad to make sure that never happens again. My heart can't take one more such fall!

So I work at the wonderful Best Buy. I primarily work in the Computer department but the Mobile phone section is right next to my department. I got the Incredible almost a month and a half ago, and are store is having a hard time keeping any at all, and we have no demo model. Thus my mobile manager likes to send customers my way to show them the neat things I have on my incredible...

So being the good sport and always wanting to give customers that wow factor, plus anyone with an iPhone I instantly try and convert them.. :) seeing as that is what I was using before. I pull out my phone and start demoing the phone and the customer asks if she can see it, I say sure and as I am handing it to her the unthinkable happens, she misses the phone and it starts falling it lands back down thankfully it only cracked the back plastic a little bit nothing on the screen.. but since then I'm not a big fan of letting anyone touch my phone.

I was fishing from the shore with my family and the fishing was terrible. I got bored, so I decided to whip out my Omnia and play around on the net a bit (this was while I was still waiting for my upgrade so I could get some Droidy goodness). Did I mention I have a 2 year old who thinks it is hilarious to scare people and that I am jumpy? Anyway, he had been playing behind us, and came up and grabbed my arm and says "RARR!". Usually he doesnt get me but for some reason that one did. I threw my phone in the air (only about a foot) it hit the ground and bounced into the water. It was not very deep where it landed and I scooped it up as fast as possible, but the water had already gotten in behind the cover. It wasnt deep enough to cover the entire phone but apparently it didnt need to be. I spent the next 2 weeks using an old chocolate until I could finally upgrade to my Incredible... Of course, than I had to wait another 3 weeks for the phone to actually get here, but you all know all about that.

i was cooking on my grill for my family a couple weeks ago. i got a text message. so i get out my incredible from my pocket. look at it and the text ends up being a joke, i laughed then passed it off my father. as he was handing it back it slipped out of his hands and take a guess where it fell? that's right everyone, right smack on the grill. i had to order a new back for the phone because it had some nice marks on it. but if i had a case for that my incredible would have been good as new. i guess you can call that a hot phone eh?

I have to say my story is not too dramatic. I was carrying my DI in my hand and bumped the kitchen chair. My DI popped from my hand and landed on the hard block tile floor.(OF course it could not happen on the carpet). My luck was with me this time as it landed battery side down. No doubt a case would help.

My husband snowboards practically every day. It's that time of year after the resorts are closed down, so he hikes the mountains and builds his own jumps until there isn't a bit of snow left. 2 days ago he was working on a jump and his phone flew out of his pocket when he landed and he lost it in the snow for a few minutes. Thankfully the phone is fine, but now he really is thinking he needs a case for sure. I would love to surprise him with one of these!

I was recently was heading out to the garage to get in the car. When I turned around to pull the door closed my hand (with my Droid Incredible in it) hit the door frame and the Inc fell out of my hand. Thinking I was fast enough I tried to move my foot under it. This did not go well, my speed has wained with age, and I ended up kicking the phone down the 3 stairs that lead from the house into the garage. Bounce, Bounce, *crack* onto the concrete. Terrified I paused for what seemed like 10 minutes. Once I picked the phone up I was lucky to find that it just had some dings but no real damage and it seems to be working fine.

With one of these cases I would still have a perfect phone, now it looks heavily used after only 2 weeks of ownership... :-(

a little juggling

So I often fumble for my phone getting in and out of the car and one time it slipped out of my gym shorts. Having good reflexes I made contact and knocked it up higher and was able to catch and save it from straight up asphalt. Nonetheless, a case would be helpful in another fumble situation haha!

Thanks for the contest Phil!

worst case scenario...im at the club, got my droid inc in my pocket, a big booty girl starts grinding and puttin it on me and crack....the phone cant take the pressure, it needs the support of a case...thats scurry

I was walking alongside the pool with my Inc in pocket. Since I was just wearing basketball shorts it didn't have much to hold on to and flopped out of my pocket while I was hip thrusting the butterfly motion. Good thing was Best Buy had one more left in stock to give me. A case would help! :)

I was carrying several items out to the truck to leave for work. I got out to the carport and opened the door to the back of the truck and my phone slipped out. Bounced off the back seat to the floor board and slid down toward the cement. I managed to intercept with my foot so that when it finally hit the ground it was a lot softer landing than if it had hit from the truck level. WHEW!

working security

I work civilian security as a Department of Defense Security Officer for the Air Force. I do vehicle inspections (inside, outside, and underneath) at the cargo base on an Air Force installation. My Job includes crawling in and out of cars, semis, truck and trailers all day long.
In this situations, there really is no telling if a case would have saved my Droid. so when semis pull into our inspection bay, we crawl up onto a 12 foot ladder to look up on top of the semi trailers........

This story is very hard for me to tell.......I have nightmares still to this day.

I crawled up onto the ladder to take a peak, when my phone decided to creep thru a hole in my cargo pocket (that I had torn earlier that day) and fall all 12 feet onto the pavement.

I wish that was the end of the story, but unfortunately, it is not. See the truck was pulling out of the bay as I was looking up on top of the trailer. Turns out the reason they call semis 18 wheelers is because they have 18 wheels:(

The only good part of that day, if I had to pick something, was that only half of them rolled over the top of my phone.......

I nearly dropped mine on to a tile floor, broke the fall with my shoe so it didn't take the full hit. No damage to the phone but it probably wouldn't have slipped if I had a better grip, like with a case...:p

I was chasing a perp with a gun and my phone fell out of my pocket and skidded across the sidewalk. I was able to pick it up in mid run and keep up the chase. The perp got away in the projects.

I was changing my five month olds sh!$$y diaper on his dresser. I had put my Incredible down next to the changing pad so we could listen to music not knowing the level of devastation he had accomplished. I moved his diaper about 12 inches away from us to help with the clean up. After he was changed I sat him up and noticed the sneak had my phone! When I went to get it from him he sort of threw it.....face down in the "not so clean" diaper. I had to file an insurance claim ....because of a ****ty earpiece!! Not my best day.

I was sitting passenger in my friends car. My droid inc was on my lap because we were using the navigation. When we pulled over for gas I got out to pay, forgetting my phone was on my lap. As I stood up gravity grabbed my phone. It bounced twice and landed face down. Luckily it only scratched and chipped the corners. If I had a case I wouldn't have any damage.

No More Cheap Cases!

I love eBay and have purchased many great accessories for my Treo and my Blackberry Storm over the years, but I've HAD it with cheap phone cases. I purchased a knockoff of a Seidio case for my Storm about a year ago and the darned thing broke after about two months. The entire clip (holster style) just disintegrated one day, dropping my phone to the floor. Nothing was damaged on the phone, but I said then and there - No More Cheap Cases to protect a $400 phone! I bought a replacement Seidio holster from Amazon and love it. It holds the phone very securely, is easy to get the ringing phone from quickly, and hasn't shown the slightest bit of wear. (Frankly, I like it even more than my Storm!)

Now that I'm upgrading to an Incredible, (due on July 22nd, if Verizon ships on time) I already have my Seidio case in sight. You just can't beat quality.

So one day I was minding my own business when Mothra comes out of nowhere and starts attacking me. In the rush of it all I forgot which pocket had my Incredible in it and which I kept my emergency mothballs in. So guess what ... that's right! Next thing you know my Droid is flying through the air and only made Mothra more angry! Scratches galore! Where is a Seidio case and Godzilla when you need it!
