Crashed process has my phone basically bricked. Any ideas?

So I restarted my phone a few minutes ago. When it powered back up I get a warning: "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gaps has stopped". I hit ok, but the warning just pops back up. It stays off long enough for me to power off and back on again, but that's not helping. What should I do? HTC online chat is down as well, so I can't get any help from them.

I don't know. Can you get into recovery? If so maybe clear cache partitions. Or a reset. I'm not much help but that is what I would try first.

Thanks. I fixed it. Apparently Play Services had a problem when updating. I fixed it by going into settings/apps/download manager. Hit force stop and rebooted. That fixed the problem.

It worries me that this solution won't be accessible to the average joe

That's kind of an issue with all smartphones though. I would assume a call to customer service either to the carrier or the OEM could resolve it. Not sure if the problem was on Google's end or HTC's honestly.
