Customer reviews of the Note 8

Color for Orchid Grey was changed on the Note 8. They pretty much took out the Orchid and left the Grey. I personally think the version on the S8/S8+ is nicer.
They call it Orchid Grey, and I'm not bayou with it, that's really not fair to call it Orchid Grey, it doesn't even look as nice as the S8+. I'd probably raise Cain if I didn't keep it in a case, I can't even tell that way.

Agreed. I noticed in Best Buy when checking out the Note that the orchids was a different shade. My S8+ is orchids gray. In the end I went with black on my Note 8.

So I received my Note 8 today and it is a amazing phone all in all. Very smooth and super Snappy throughout the phone, overall I'm very happy with the purchase after owning all of Sammy's flagships the past 4 yrs as well. However there's one thing that's killing me with my N8 and for some reason it's only happening in one place on the phone, the Gallery has A LOT of trouble with lag while scrolling. It keeps glitching on me and not scrolling properly. Every time I scroll in the app it hiccups, The scrolling is fine everywhere else but right when I go into the gallery it's all down hill. Anyone else having this problem with their phone?? (N8 Verizon)

If you have any questions about the N8, let me know and I'll be more than willing to answer them for you since I have had it in my hand for more than 12 hrs now.
Hello there. How do you use the two applications on the screen at the same time? I forgot what they call it?

Coming from an S7 Edge, I can say I LOVE this thing! It is incredibly smooth, responsive & beautiful. for the first time, I use my left index finger for the sensor & it's not an issue at all.

I hope that more apps will fall under the "dual app" feature. Pokémon go can be used as a double app, but Starbucks cannot. I also have 2 other games that I play while at Starbucks and I want to be able to open the coffee store apps & one game at the same time. Man, now I gotta do it the old fashioned way & press the app buttons separately!

I also had the S7 Edge and I love this phone. How do you use the double apps?

I just assumed the one in BB was Grey so I didn't give it a 2nd thought so when I ordered the only choices was Orchid Grey and Black so I thought the Grey was not offered just like the Gold, you couldn't get it but I can't talk when it's in my case but if they had offered the Orchid grey color like on the S8 Plus I definitely would have taken this back and made him give me in that color I really love that Orchid gray it's so pretty! It doesn't look so dull like this gray I call it gray but it's the Note 8 Orchid Grey! I

Upgraded (or would the naysayers prefer lateral transferred :) ) from the S8+. I got it about 6 hours ago but just now starting to play around with it. The screen is beautiful, the feel is nice, and it's not as 'massive' as some of the reviews make it out to be. In fact, it's only a subtle difference in hand from the S8+. It does require a little dexterity, but it is manageable one handed in my average guy hands. I tend to agree with many that say the more squared off shape makes the screen appear to have more usable space.

One thing I noticed right away that I really like is the much more subtle SMS pop down window. It's a neat little bar that appears rather than the big notification shade from the S8 when you get a text. I don't know if that's a Note thing or a 7.1.1 thing, but I prefer it.

Can't wait to get outside with it tomorrow and put the camera through the paces and see what other goodies I can find!
Can you please tell me what SMS app area you using? And can you tell me if you can add a signature line?

Why when using the live message you are limited to how many words you can write? I don't like that.

I'm using the stock Samsung SMS app. It doesn't appear to support signatures, at least I can't find any setting for them.

This very much the first non-Nexus Android phone I've used that felt like it finally got performance actually nailed down. Samsung has found a formula of using the right animation speeds, with GPU/CPU and Storage Speed optimizations that I'm still finding it hard to believe i'm using a Samsung phone. Galaxy phones are notorious for hitches, sluggishness and quirks right out of the box. I returned my S7 Edge for those very reasons.

It even goes beyond that, because the Samsung browser with adblock is also optimized to something I haven't experienced on an Android phone which is 60FPS scrolling through web content, including complex pages with lots of detailed images. I have absolutely never owned an Android phone, even a Nexus phone, that can do that. I distinctly remember scrolling through DroidLife on my HTC10 noticing the hiccups as the content kept loading as I scrolled. Little things like this matter to me, and fixing them makes a huge difference.

I never used an S8 so maybe this stuff has been fixed in that line. Maybe 6GB of ram is the real sweet spot in Android world, maybe 7.1.1 or whatever is so optimized that Samsung didn't do much of anything under the hood. I don't know. What I do know is that this is the closest in performance consistency to the iPhone I've seen ever. As a stickler for phone performance, I'm very impressed out of the gate. I'll be even more impressed if this phone performs similarly in 6 months.

Eating my words a little bit. Every trip to Best Buy I check out the Note 8 again and again. It's so much nicer to hold them the S8+ (in my opinion). I still really dislike the fps location and the height but the phone feels amazing to hold.

I'm definitely waiting on the V30 but the Note is a serious contender for my money.
