Cyanogen 7

Re: Question for LandShark re CM7

actually kevin SD cards have been frying on CM7 as well.........I was on nightly 13 when blew my stock one out and nightly 17 with GB bootloaders when blew on my 8gb that i bought.....

@kodefoo I keep meaning to try this, but I've heard people have had success using the free Barnacle Wifi Tether app in the market. It creates an "AdHoc" connection, but as long as that works for you it should work just fine.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but low voice sending volume doesn't seem to be an issue via Bluetooth. At least I have only heard complaints when talking into the phone itself. It's a pain, but tbh "phone" is far down on the list of what this thing is to me.

Funny thing is the only things I miss are exclusive Samsung things like the Samsung Camera and Video player (didn't know how good I had it). Does anyone have suggestions for a better camera and/or video player? (I have tried the MIUI camera per below)

The only issues I have with CM7 are relatively minor - what I wish I could find is fix for the jittery video recording. I've tried the MIUI Camera and it still happens. Does anyone know a solution for this?

In order to solve the jittery video, go into the video camera settings and drop down the resolution one notch.

Re: Question for LandShark re CM7

Well, I guess I haven't been paying as much attention as I should... Hadn't heard about that yet

Another very weird thing that happens is that when i am listening to music through my headphones and I receive a call and answer it the phone coninues to ring through the speaker at my ear. I have to ask them to call me back and when the call ends my phone throws a force close on the android phone and reboots.

Anything I can do to stop this.

@sushiguy732 thanks - I had actually discovered that and should have been more specific. It's fine for now, but unfortunate. Just means I may need to pull out the Flip Cam or *yikes* the camcorder for special stuff.

That ringing thing happens to me to via my BT headphones. Usually just say I need to call them back. I wonder if disconnecting and reconnecting the headphones would work. Again, this think for me is like 10% phone.

I can't really find information on a good replacement video player. The CM7 one is just so very basic and has trouble with some files. Also I miss the ability to lock the screen (from ComRom) etc. There's just no options or tweaks at all as far as I can see. Again, I guess the Samsung player was just pretty darn good.

One more quick ? - the MIUI camera is very nice, but does not support hardware button shutter triggering - the default CM7 Camera is good enough (beyond the ability to tap to focus) but there is no way to disable the shutter sounds?

If you go into the camera and press the Menu button you will be able to get to Advanced Settings. There you can set the hardware buttons to take pictures.

Personally I set the Volume Up/Down to be my Zoom and my Search button to be my Shutter. I also selected the option to have the camera focus prior to taking the picture.

Haven't found a way to disable the shutter sound.

Let me know if this helps.

Yeah that's cool I figured out the hardware buttons on the standard camera. The sounds just kill me.
At this point I would be willing to flash the MIUI camera to replace the standard one. Even if I set a shortcut for the MIUI camera it's 50/50 which camera pops up. Is there any way to differentiate them? Would it be as simple as changing the app name? If so, doesn't anyone know how to go about doing this?

Also - tried MoboPlayer and I am VERY happy with it when compared to the vanilla player.

Found out it was just the napster player app I was using. I recently switched to spotify and their android app works a ton better so this is not an issue related to Cyanogen 7. Just a terribly written app.

I've been using CM7 for the past several weeks and am still trying to figure something out.
Every time I call a phone number that asks for dialpad inputs the phone never comes out of a black screen. I don't know if there is something wrong with the proximity sensor but its really annoying and I have to leave the phone on speakerphone until I'm connected with a person. I've looked for settings that may affect this but have had no luck.I've also tried searching through xda forums and these forums but have been unable to find anything helpful.

Has anyone experienced this problem or found a solution?
Thanks

Never tried super manager, but I've been very happy with ES File Explorer.

So I need to catch up on the XDA thread - I like to read everything so I'm up to date on things, but I heard that the Fascinate should be getting "nightlies" now and I'm wondering if anyone set this up yet (if its possible yet) and are you using ROM Manager to do it?

Does anybody know how to push the gps file using ES File Explorer?

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I granted ES File Explore root rights via the Settings menu (check "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System")

Then I copy/pasted the gps file over and long press to make sure it had read/write privilege (under properties).
Seems work really well now especially when using GPS Fix (from market).

Oh crumbs.Well I was switching between Glitch kernels just to see the difference and all of a sudden I'm getting FCs on Google Framework services and many other apps. Most distressing as the phone was running so smoothly.

I did a nandroid 2 days ago so hopefully that will help matters. The only changes I made before this happened was flashing a new kernel 2 x and installing Titanium Backup (didn't even run it yet). Hopefully the issue will be cleared up with the restore, but I can't find mention of anyone else having this issue.

I guess I'd like to know why it happened so I can avoid it again. Is flashing kernels something that could cause something like this? I believe I wiped caches before flashing. If I can go back to the way things were I won't mess with anything till the next stable CM7 build.

*seems my backup is working well - very odd it could have been - a) flashing LL/ML/HL Glitch kernel b) Titanium Backup (just being installed) c) xScope browser - these are the only changes I can think that I did - likely the kernel flashing.

** if you like how your Fascinate is running DO A NANDROID BACKUP NOW pr0 tip

What is the best way to go from 2.2 to any of the 2.3 ROMs (CM7, jt's vanilla, etc.)?

I've installed JT's vanilla on my phone successfully with Gapps flashed, but when I try to do an advanced restore of just my data with CWM, nothing works at all. I feel like there isn't an easy way to migrate all of my stuff over to 2.3 using CWM.

I don't know that you'd want to restore your system or even app data from a 2.2. to 2.3 as they are very different systems. Someone more knowledgeable than I could know more.

I know that when I tried to restore apps + app data via Titanium Backup it cause all sorts of problems with CM7 so I just started from scratch. Basically, even if you could restore your app/data you may not want to as it may cause problems.

I do think you might want to take a look at Titanium Backup as you'd be able to pick and choose individual apps to restore etc.
