CyanogenMod7 now available in beta!

Had a slight hiccup earlier trying to connect via wifi to the marketplace but a quick toggle fixed it. Other than that no probs.

I am thinking of moving to this ROM from Apex 2.0. I have read a lot of the posts in this thread, but I am looking for a comprehensive (latest/greatest) guidance for install methods and requirements.

Also is there any description or changelog for the nightlies?

Thanks!

as far as the install method, the rootzwiki post is still the best source (though at this point, use the method outlined in red): [ROM][BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for the Droid X

and here's your changelog: CyanogenMod nightlies changelog for Cdma_shadow

Thanks for the info. I have tried several times to pull up the changelog page you listed, but the page always fails for me. I end up only getting a menu of "devices" CM7 has nightlies for.

Update: Turns out there must be a block on my employers web service that is blocking access to a component of the site.

I absolutely love CM7, but have been having issues where my phone freezes whenever I'm playing g certain games (Peggel, iRunner) which needs a battery pull.

I have QuickClock set to 'Balanced' after the auto-configure. Is this the problem? If I uninstall QuickClock will my CPU default to it's original setting or are there are scripts I can run to avoid freezing?

For anyone having issues playing back old videos on your phone and have tried everything and gave up, there is somewhat of a solution. CVPCS posted in his blog a couple weeks back he was working on converting the desktop version of VLC Media player to mobile. He released a pre-alpha download. Tested and ALL videos play that I had trouble with only thing his here and there sound might not play but video ALWAYS plays. There's 2 download files, Neon and non Neon. Too much to explain how to find out which version you need so either visit CVPCS blog or check this link, it's very helpful:

Feedback appreciated for CVPCS.

Thats an awesome find, thanks. I am running MIUI and used Root Explorer, found /proc/cpuinfo right away and saw the word NEON. Downloaded the apk and its working! Thanks man Im a huge supporter user of VLC on desktop now on my X. OK ok Im leaving CM7 territory and going back to my MIUI grounds, lol. I''ll add this and the apk there as well.

New nightlies brings new lock screen option. You can drag the dots anywhere to unlock. Can add a center dot and move it around to chose apps from the lock screen.

I am without a computer so I'm sorry for maybe asking a repeated question...

Where is CM7 at these days? When I checked last the camera and GPS were not working. Has that been fixed? Can you flash it from .605? Is there anything else broken?

Are the official nightlies on the GB kernel yet?

EDIT: Looks like as of now the official nightlies and the 7.1 "RTM" are still on froyo.

I am having trouble with the new lock screen. Anytime I set one of my pictures as a lockscreen wallpaper it sends my phone into a bootloop. It has happened three times now on both nightly 122 and 123. As soon as I press the power button to turn the screen off it bootloops. Any suggestions, or anyone else noticing this.

Yup it's official as per @cvpcs twitter profile, dx will be the first device he will work on to get ICS! Woot finally a break through for us!
