Damn SG3 is fragile

Whether the glass covers the whole front of the phone or not... I wouldn't want to drop anything that had glass parts to it. You hit the right angle, it's gonna break.
That's what cases, screen protectors and insurance are for.

Screen cracked falling from a foot to the floor. I don't know why samsung decide to make a the front all glass (they really do copy apple) when they know the Apple phones crack easy cuz of a full front screen.. Piece of crap device

Take some responsibility for dropping the phone in the first place.
Its not a piece of crap device because it broke after you dropped it.
Cause and effect.
Had you not dropped it, the device would still be fully functional and not broken.
If you drop a bottle of beer on the floor and it breaks do you complain that the beer is crap as well?

+1. You drop glass there's a good chance it will break. The only true and permanent way to prevent this from happening is to not have butter fingers. Don't drop the phone

Mine landed on its back and the screen shattered, out of my coveralls chest pocket. It's been fixed, and a Defender case on it now.

Paying retail for this phone is a lot for it to break this easy. Don't think so! Make it cheaper then ill understand

thank god i kept the best buy protection plan, I bought my sg3 sept 1st and the phone fell off my bed onto the carpeted floor and broke the top of the screen and now its spiderwebbed down, the phone still works, so i called best buy and they put in a replacement order for me, and i just put clear scotch tape over the cracks and im using the phone til my replacement comes in.

I didnt know carpet could break glass

The OP has earned his right to if he so wants http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=74137
He's helped a ton out here. Phones made cheap. Meh, so be it. Same things happened to me. Most will agree completely.

I am glad he has helped alot of people i really am. That is the entire point of a forum imo .. help people and also discuss ideas. But your acting as if he is the only one with the right to complain about something or have any say so in a discussion.

Regardless if the forum is only for "elite" memebers that matter it would be shunned off for only them. As i can see so far it isn't so just because his opinion is its cheap doesn't mean its the damn golden rule.

I will still stand by my previous post. Majority of smartphones are going to break upon a fall especially if it just happens to be the right angel. While some can say cheap i can say look at CNet ... dropped the damn thing 2 times and threw it in the air once .. NOTHING. Why? it did not hit that golden angel to break it ... ive dropped mine 3 times so far (before getting a case... phones thin) .. .nothing. He drops it once it breaks .. i mean it sucks 110% i agree .. but it was the right angel. Is the phone cheap? Only some can say honestly.... because again most smartphones are. Manufacturers cant keep making phones thinner & smaller without sacrificing some kind of durability.

Just my 2 cents ... I understand everyone can have an opinion but just because he has helped people doesn't mean everyone's opinions mean diddly squat....

[Edit]

Also just wanted to say that I am not saying its the most durable .. its definitely not so I can agree some... this phone is definitely no nextel (if those ppl remember those) which could take the biggest beating and work. But again that's what happens when the phone has to be thinner / lighter ... cant be super light and thin and then have durability. It just sucks the OP dropped it at that golden angel. Would I be pist? Sure ... but that's why I always get a very very sturdy case so when it drops. Im good to go.

My hTC one X has a glass front, my previous GNEXUS and the Rezound all had glass fronts. So does my chic's Samsung Focus
Then everyone must have copied apple

Don't worry... one day you'll be able to bend the screen in half and it wont break, just need some flexible glass now :p

It's a delicate piece of technology. Don't drop it. If you do then there is a good chance that it will break. Cover it in an Otter box if you are unable to protect it or any other phone.

So your saying my galaxy s2 that I dropped multiple times and didn't break, my tbolt, DROID incredible, and even when the iPhone 1 was out that I dropped and all never broke. Dropping a phone isn't idiotic, you have your phone in your hoody or you have kids that grab it and drop it. The point of the op is that Samsung has made durable phones, the s2 was a beast all around. The s3 is heavily influenced on the screen technology of the retina display, which means thin glass. I pads, I phones I everything are not durable, and Samsung made this phone not as durable as they did with the s2. My evo lte is a tank, thing is solid. I dropped a pair of micrometers out of my desk at work and even with a case on it landed so perfect on my screen. And my screen on my phone is perfect, it didn't even scratch. So to the point, Samsung needs to stick to there guns and not go into the glass look that crapple does

Also, buy a screen protector, delicate screen problem is fixed. Stupid reason to say a phone is a piece of device.

Ok now, lets be realistic. Brainwashing is declaring apple is the greatest, fact is that samsung use to make the Iphone parts. When apple decided to sue samsung they stopped making there parts and apple went to a taiwan company. How do you think apple knows what is infringed on, because samsung made them for them. So yes i do agree samsung is very apple influenced all the way down to the touchwiz interface. No one can deny apple makes a quality product, its just to simple and dumb for us android users, samsung screen technology is original but the way its manufactured is not. This is why HTC phones use the thin glass technology with corning gorilla glass covering, to protect these accidents from happening

Samsung still to this day produces several components for the IPhone, iPod and IPad. Samsung just announced not long ago a new expansion of their semiconductor plant in Austin (4 billion dollars) to provide chips for the IPhone, iPad, iPod... Not sure about the IPhone 5 but 26% of the iPhone 4s parts were manufacturered by Samsung and I wouldn't expect that to be much different today.

TMSC (the Taiwan company you mentioned) turned down both Qualcomm and Apple because they wanted "exclusivity" and TMSC doesn't want to take that risk.

Regarding "gorilla glass" we have to thank Steve Jobs for convincing Corning to resurrect a 1960's project named "project muscle"

Samsung is a Goliath and I don't ever see them cutting off Apple it just wouldn't make good business not with the money machine that Apple is today.

I honestly think its pretty sturdy phone. I've dropped mine twice, once on tile and the second time on concrete. Granted I have a case on it, but its still working just great.

Yup bad part is I have an incipio case I just decided to take it off today loo

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

I've done that before with my S2 always had a case on it, the one time I take the case off and bang drop it

I agree with the fact "it all depends on how it hits" as to if the glass breaks or not. If the glass breaks its going to get labled its cheap ,if it doesnt break its going to not get tagged with that lable. Its just a fact of life
Luckily I havent dropped mine so can not speak from experience on either side .
