ARCHIVED: [DEAD ROM] nROM v1.6.3

Status
Not open for further replies.
Released v1.3 as a light weight patch since it is necessary to flash v1.2 first. Follow the instructions on OP please. Updated change log is available as well.

EDIT: BALLS! I forgot the build.prop in the patch. Everything is functional it just reads as v1.1. No worries it is not v1.1.. I'll throw up an updated version in a minute.

EDIT: Okay updated version is up.

Nice - the 1.2 then 1.3.2 update did work this time for me.

ADW EX and Widgets work fine, just took an extra reboot.

One question though, I noticed in first post you said the dalvik-cache -> cache
mod was in place on this ROM ?

After all the reboots and last boot into recovery to wipe dalvik-cache,
rebooted into the phone, and am @ 28 MB free.

I have Root explorer installed - checked and saw that the dalvik-cache was
still being used in \data and is NOT using the \cache location

\cache has a dalvik-cache folder under it - but its empty.

I don't mind as I don't have any more apps to install currently, but
just wanted to let you know that one didn't take?

Hmm, I just did another run through of the install procedure and did not run into any problems. In adb shell or terminal emulator type "busybox df" and post your results.

If you look at the changelog and feature list, I removed DeskClock and added Alarm Clock. It's a white square clock icon.

Thanks nick I got it workimg after the 1.3.2 update. Still cant access settings tho. And I think the only thing I miss from thunderom is it said a number for battery but you said u were working on that. Everything else im lovim it

Can't access settings? I have never run into this problem. I'll put together an update zip with the stock settings to see if that works for you.

Along with the settings I cant open the widgets to add back to mu main screens. Came from thunderom then nrom1.2 then 1.3.2 n wipe davik. When I get home im gonna start over see if I can get it

Did you let v1.3.2 fully boot before you went back and cleared dalvik-cache?

That sounds like what I experienced when I directly installed 1.3 over the stock rom I'd been running. Installed 1.2, then rebooted, then flashed 1.3, rebooted, then wiped davlik, then all was happy and settings worked again. (kind of like a hocus pocus fix)

Well, chalk me up as one for whom it won't work :-(.

I was on TR1.5. Downloaded nROM 1.2, nROM 1.3.1, rebooted, nand backup, flashed 1.2, rebooted and let load then rebooted again, flashed 1.3.1, rebooted and let load then rebooted again, wiped dalvik-cache, rebooted once more. Couldn't access settings, widgets wouldn't work, was very choppy and slow.

So I redownloaded 1.2, redownloaded 1.3.1, restored my nand backup to get back to TR 1.5, and went through the process once more. Same results, no settings, no widgets, slow and glitchy.

So I redownloaded 1.2, 1.3.1 again, and restored my nand, and tried again. This time, after flashing 1.2 and rebooting, it hung on the android startup screen, (the silver "android" that shimmers over and over. Tried rebooting a few times, (by removing the battery to get out of the hung android startup screen), with it hanging at the same screen.

So I restored my TR1.5 nand backup again, redownloaded 1.2, downloaded 1.3.2, (freshly released), and tried once more. Again, after flashing 1.2, it hangs on the android startup screen.

Kind of at a loss now...can still restore my nand backup after pulling the battery, so all is not lost, but I can't for the life of me get your ROM to install nick :-(.

Edit: For fun, I'm doing a full, soup to nuts wipe, data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik-cache, rebooting, and starting over. We'll see if we can't make this puppy sing.

Double Edit: huh, well that got 1.2 booting yay, onward and upward.

Oh, where doth thou go wrong. If I could replicate these errors I would be on them like.. Well, like a nerd on a software bug.

alright... Tried this again. Flashed v1.2 settings and widgets worked. rebooted to recovery then flashed v1.3.2 rebooted and allowed it to boot up then reboot to recovery and cleared davlik. settings and widgets didnt work again. now I'm bout to go 1.2 then 1.3 then 1.3.2 see if that works. I can go back to Thunderom 1.4 but for some reason it says It pops an error when I try to go to 1.5..

Also One more question now next to my signal bars it says EV instead of 3G. is it running on 3G or is that from the different theme...

Actually, Sprint uses EVDO. IDK why it says 3g in the stock theme.

Yep, dalvik-cache is still in data. If you are using my ROM/boot.img, a dalvik-cache wipe should successfully move it no matter what.

I tried my best to re-create these issues that you guys have been encountering to no avail. If you follow my directions on the OP their should not be any problems. If you guys want to Skype me I can walk you through it, just PM me.

That last line almost seems like you don't have root...

This is what I see:
