I have no problem with having 3g constantly with this rom, only time I dont is when coverage is bad... most likely its your service causing the 1x.

Phone has locked up 3 times and required a battery pull to get back up with the new ROM. Twice was when I was adding accounts, once when I was installing a theme. Will see if I can replicate/get more information later (seems my burger from dinner last night might not have been cooked all the way :( )

Well this is weird. I rebooted my phone and it came straight up with no lockscreen. Then a bunch of issues with logging into my google account. Then my home button wasn't working at all. So I wiped cache/dalvik and reflashed, still same problem. I'm wiping everything and doing a complete reflash from scratch to see if this fixes it.. Odd, to say the least..

You must format System

Since the OS version is changing, you must format System along with the other normal procedures, even when coming from the 0227 nightly.

If you don't, your asking for problems. It may work, it may not.

While downloading the new nightly, read the OP in case instructions have changed. In this case, zefie warns of the need to format system as well.

Yeah I did the format too.. Things were working fine, but I think I ran into problems when I restored all system settings with titanium. That seems about when things got wonky. Any sense to be made of that?

Titanium

I would assume that certain things may have been replaced by titanium in system settings that caused the problem. I use titanium backup as well, but I only restored the apps that do not play an intimate role with the system.

It takes longer because you have to set up all the system settings again, but once complete, and do a fresh backup through titanium, I should have no problems doing exactly what YOU did, until the next OS version change.

Anyways, just my $0.02........

Aight, all is well. I just restored all the apps and their respective settings. No system settings restored. Guess that means I lose my call log and text messages, and have to manually reset all my preferences. Oh well, I can live with that. Makes sense since this is an OS upgrade.. But as soon as I've got everything back the way it was I'll do a fresh backup and all should be peachy.

But it seems as though that was the issue - a fresh start with a new flash and no restore of old system data did the trick..

SMS BackUp+

I know this is getting off topic, so this will be my last post concerning the conversation, but I use SMS Backup+ 1.4.3 by Jan Berkel from the market.

Auto backups to a SMS folder with to/from as the subject, this app can also do the restore portion as well for the SMS. It can also backup your call logs.

It has an option to restore the call logs, but I have never had any luck with that.

GoSMS, in addition to being generally great, has an sms backup function, which has worked perfectly the few times I've used it.

'Format system' should always be done when flashing a new build (it loses nothing). It's 'wipe data/cache' that's additionally recommended for OS version changes. (That said, I tried flashing from 2/27 to 3/2 without bothering and haven't found anything broken yet.)

One thing i do know is that when flashing into newer nightlies is dont wipe anything! Just flash on top of the old build. Reason being cause people use tb so much that u carry over the apps n other stuff from the old build that the new one doesnt have so just flash on top.

I do this on my evo all the time.

Except that since this is a new OS version, you have to wipe everything for a fresh start. We kindof already established this. Maybe you don't have to wipe everything for a different rom that's built off the same OS version, but in this case, it's absolutely necessary.

Not always true. I flashed I wanna say the 2-25 build directly over the 2-20 (or whichever was previous) and got a few glitches. It was nothing major, but enough to notice. When I reflashed after formatting the system partition, everything was fine again. Also wiping just the system doesn't erase your data as was mentioned a couple posts above. I figure taking the extra step to be sure things work is a smart way to go. Plus files could have been removed from a nightly and not formatting means those files stay there, can cause conflicts.

From experience (read what was going on last night) - not wiping can cause issues, and doing a full settings/app restore can also cause issues after flashing a new version of the OS. I did it myself and I had MMS break on me.

Also did a partial restore on some apps, and thinking that might have caused some of the lockups I had earlier this morning, since nobody else seems to have had them.

Issues

I have a problem that when i make or receive calls the screen stays black and can't hear other party but they hear me. Can't even hang up.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Check "Always Use Proximity" under "Settings->Call Settings" to fix the screen. Turn up the volume, (for some reason it has to be at at least half volume to make noise, anything lower and it cuts out), so you can hear them.

Wait, so does that mean i DON'T need to wipe data between updates, just format system? I've been wiping every time, and it's such a PITA. Or am I misreading this?

That is correct, as long as you format /system you should be fine. IF you have issues, then wipe /data /cache.

EDIT: Unless it is a completely new version, such as the newest nightly.
