dare i even ask, which recovery you're using, something tells me you're not entirely sure what your doing... just a hunch. I want to help you so please do tell me which recovery you're using.

You might want to at least give some useful info before asking for help. Try the beginner's guide in my sig as a place to start then see what you can come up with. We like to help, but it makes it easier and more efficient if you help us as well..

cannot help not enough info plz fix :)

Big features coming if I manage to compile a working build, thank mik_os for this. If he had a donate button it would be ginormous right about here. :P

Hint: FM Radio anyone?

hawt, i was just starting to think i should probably settle in with this version since there hasn't been an update in a while, thanks for trying to roll out another one.

oh and if you need a tester... i'm totally open for that

who knows when i will get this out, trying but things are being stupid. Just had to redownload xionia sources coz somehow my local git repo was foobar'd oi.

i think i have to recompile my toolchain too since this isnt a 64-bit system
edit: yup i do :P

Might get a release tonight, probably tomorrow :P

also my build machine shares resources (is) my media center machine, and media center gets resource priority ;p

i have a spare 160gb 2.5" hitachi since it was replaced with a WD 3.5" 2TB drive in my media center :)
That was quite an upgrade. lol

media center=3tb(1 2tb+ 1 1tb drive)
laptop = 500gb(1 320gb + 1 200gb)

total storage isn't the issue one of my jobs consumes massive hard drive capacities, I'm director of video features for MTAC and because of that i've got an ever expanding library of anime, and now that all new anime is going blu-ray, we're talking about 1gb every 22 minuets of playback... my laptop and media server are both maxed right now because there's a three day convention in 25 days...

so after the convention i'll probably end up picking up two 3tb drives, and writing them off come tax time. My next two media servers are also going to be writen off, and if i end up getting a projector this year, part of that will be written off too, and don't forget part of the internet connection, and i'll still probably get screwed over somehow and end up owing 6$ to the irs AGAIN!!!

ok your ssd is making me a bit jealous... but i have to prioritize capacity over speed as long as it's fast enough for 1080p playback i'm ok with it.

I just bought a cheap $20 nvidia 8600 off Newegg because apparently the 8000 series and higher work with VDPAU which is linux's version of GPU video decoding. Thus hopefully I will be able to play 1080p and not just 720p. Though 720p use enough space themselves... lol

The laptop gets SD Cards to carry music and such, tho I never use it for such because I might as well use my phone instead, and the laptop's speakers suck. So while I'd like more space 40gb SSD is nice with the 6gb RAM in this laptop. It makes my day-to-day web surfing and whatever on here speedy, but its not the fastest thing in the world. It might have 6gb of DDR3 RAM and Core2Duo 2.1ghz and SSD but it is still a mobile platform and the IO is just not that great. in benchmarks the DDR2 800 of my media center beats this DDR3 1066, because of OEM power settings I cannot disable (too lazy to hack this bios)

thats funny, when i built my media server, the board has a 9400gt on board with hdmi but my tv at the time only had s video so i had to buy a pcie card for it, and i got a nvidia 8600GT too, and my laptop which i bought at the same time has a m8600gt, so i can attest that the 8600 does let you play 1080p in linux but your proc has to be there too, you only need two gigs of ddr2 but i wouldn't go any lower then a 2.26 dual core if you're wanting to play 1080p. I spent a lot of extra money when i bought this laptop in 08 just so i could have 1080p support.

im not worried about 1080p on the laptop but the media center is an old AMD Athlon X2 2.2ghz. I can overclock it to 2.3ghz but not much more because the board is a retail ASUS, whom of which was making really crappy boards at the time. Hell, the HP board that was a slightly modified version of this board had more features, lol.

I doubt 1080p would make much of a difference for me on a 32" tv anyway lol. 720p is good enough for me for the most part.

Gonna need to add a fan to the cheap nvidia I'm getting though it is one of those off brands and people said if you don't put a fan on it the heatsink will break off. fun stuff. lol

Cheap parts should come with a "some hacking required" warning sticker. lol "Unfinished product" :P

in case you were wondering the media center runs xbmc of course, upgraded to ubuntu maverick, using xorg-edgers kernel (2.6.38), i686-pae (because xbmc live was i386 and I'm too lazy to convert it all to x64 for like 200mb more ram when i never even use 80% of it, lol), I also compile xbmc from git. I'm a bleeding edge kinda guy, which is funny because I also have short patience and get so pissed when it doesn't work right xD

Also, XBMC + SABNZBd + Sick-Beard + CouchPotato = uber sweet combination :)
Especially sick-beard since it's post-processor actually works.

Edit: To those annoyed about the OT-ness, I'm still compiling don't worry lol. Just killin' time.

my roommate and best friend will be sad to hear you're not happy with your asus board, as they're both very big supporters.

I notice the difference between 1080p and 720p on my laptop and it's only an 18'', if you flip back and forth between the two you'll pick it up regardless of screen size but i'm with you 720 is good enough for me.

I don't remember who made my 8600 card but like you i went the cheap route but mine did have a fan on it so i didn't have any experience with that., but i've certainly looked for that sticker on some of the things i buy sometimes, lucky for me not much lately has needed it.

I'm trying hard to switch over to xbmc exclusively but i'm just this year finding xbmc and the last 8+ years i've been with vlc so i'm still having some difficulties making the jump. I love the whole gui environment with xbmc but when i'm just watching one or two eps from different shows i've just downloaded it faster to just double click and i'm watching.

If they have anything good to say about the M2N-MX I would love to hear it for a laugh. :P Maybe the company doesn't suck but this board does.

This is why you set XBMC to autoscan your library at a set interval, you buy usenet hosting and set it up with sabnzbd, you configure sick-beard to work with xbmc and sabnzbd, and bam, automatic no fuss no effort tv shows as they are released xD

Wow....I feel so unnerdy.....I'm running Windows 7 Media Center, b*tches!!! lol.

and only have like 500 gb for video too. I need to get some bigger drives....but it records and plays all my TV, blurays, etc...so good enough.

Zefie, as for the "off topic chat"....here's the only excuse you need.

Hey WMC7 is pretty damn nice, IMO. I have it on my desktop back at home. Great for DVR'ing random things mainly.. Only thing is, it costs money lol..

autoscan is set and pulls everything right out of my torrents folder, but it also picks up unfinished torrents too, which i can and have just been too lazy to fix, but the only way to know what is and isn't done is to check the torrent program and while i'm there i can just double click and poof. Actually i should just set default program to xbmc and upgrade my torrent program so that it auto sort my torrents and add an extension tag to torrents which aren't complete so xbmc doesn't see them.

thats a funny comic btw i like it.
