Usually you just:
  • Clear Cache,
  • Clear Dalvik Cache
  • Format /system, (DON'T FORMAT DATA), (if using CWMA, format /system is under "mounts and storage"....if not using CWMA, or if not comfortable with that option, just flash the Debug .zip file in the 1st post).
  • Flash ROM
  • Flash gapps

When the ROM update includes a version update, (2.3.2 to 2.3.3, for example), then most say you should format data too....although last time I seem to have gotten away without doing that...

so like when a update occurs but doesn't say its making that big of a step, I should just flash the latest update of the rom and done?

When an update occurs that isn't a version update, do everything I just put in bullet points. When it is a version update, clear data too.

btw all, github looked like a Bluetooth fix attempt?

@ andybkn- says In opening post... but you'll need to format system, not data if you are already on cm7 and are updating.

I remember someone saying to update prl u have to switch back to a different rom n then back. Is there a way to do that without loosing everything

I'm a github idiot, and can't figure out how to learn what's changing....but DAMN would that be nice...just got me a Bluetooth, and lamenting having to switch out to a SprintRom.

Titanium backup, backup data+apps, reboot to recovery, wipe clean, install nrom or thunderom or legoRom, update PRL, reboot, wipe, flash CM7 back again, restore apps + data. You could backup system too, so you don't loose launcher layout, etc.

Or, and i'm just guessing, I wonder if a nandroid backup would be enough.....do nandroid backups and restores overwrite PRL?

Edit: I was right. A quick google says that if you just do a nandroid backup, then flash a Sprint ROM, (ThundeROM, nROM, Lego, etc.), update PRL, then restore your nandroid backup, you'll retain the new PRL.

Ya looks like by might be working if zefie can incorporate and our hardware plays nice.

Hell if I know....you can try if you want. I've read that CM7, (and CM6) don't work with the Sprint Provisioning, so a lot of the fancy # commands don't work. I've never tried it, but it's been said multiple times in this gargantuan thread that you can't update PRL from inside CM7.

Yeah, unless I'm looking at it wrong, its actually fairly easy to follow the github changes. Look on the right under Public Activity, and you will see that Zefie 'pushed' to gingerbread at zefie/android about 18 hours ago. All other pushes are 3 days ago or older. This makes me think thats the only change he made.

Under where it says 'pushed' to.... you will see it says 'use mik9 system_bluetooth'

So pushing means updating? What confuses me is I don't understand how the system works, (looks like some sort of weird cross between facebook, reddit, a bunch of file trees, and wikipedia edits...), so "pushing to gingerbread" is confusing, especially because I don't see a tree called gingerbread. I'm not a programmer dude though, so it's all greek to me anyway...I'm sure github is a great tool, since I see tons of people using it.

I'm not complaining, I'm happy being the ignorant guy happily punching buttons on his phone :-). But yeah, I see the word "bluetooth" there, so I'm excited!

push means he is updating the github repository he uses. to gingerbread means he is pushing his commit to the gingerbread branch of the repository.

He doesn't even have to use github as he could build build with local synced repositories on his development machine. Remote code repositories make it easier to code socially and branch off of others' ideas. Plus it gives you a backup, in case your local machine bites the dust.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

It works just fine for be. as far as the weather on the screen, that's a feature. open settings for it - go to the weather, menu button, settings, advanced tab, and uncheck unlock animations.

I have noticed some apps are missing from the market. One in particular is pykl3 radar. The demo linkshows up but not the full version. The full version does show on aospmod so guessing build.props must be different...

Has anyone else had problems with a mono-bluetooth device? I have two stereo headsets (Motorola S9 HD and S10 HD) both work fine (use them for music). I also have two mono-headsets, Plantronics and a Sony I use in the car. The mono-headsets will pair, but I get no reception nor transmission. Both worked correctly under ThunderRom and stock. Any thoughts?
