Hmm... I wonder if that would explain why I can't view any streams using ORB either right now.

I figured it was an ORB problem... Guess I'll have to play with this.

So, basically, those flashable files you linked to are otherwise stock roms, just with those certain changes made? So if someone were on Thunderom, and liking it for the most part, flashing to JIT-Only as linked above will bring you back to stock (save for JIT being enabled now)?

Those are just buildprop's, not ROMs. You can flash them overtop of ThundeROM and still be on ThundeROM. It doesnt change the ROM, just the buildprop.

I apparently had no idea what a buildprop is. :)

But I think a light bulb just popped in my head:
Buildprop is that editable configuration file that determines certain system functions, right? So to enable/disable things like JIT, stagefright, etc, its just a text edit- and you have provided the options for us in that link.

Awesomesauce. Do stagefright and HW acceleration go hand in hand? Because the only options offered have both either on or off.

UPDATE: I flashed the buildprop for JIT-only. Didn't fix orb streaming. :(
I wonder why Orb won't stream when it works fine with the stock browser and media player on an EVO. I admit that I didn't try it on the stock rom so it could be a problem with LG's setup in general, and not necessarily related to your rom.

Meanwhile, JIT-only dropped my quadrant score to just under 500. Looks like most of the performance gain was in stagefright. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the h.264 test that Quadrant performs.

You got it exactly right.

I believe stagefright and acceleration go hand in hand. The reason i think that is because, it along with Stagefright was turned off and also if you look at the buildprop, the field for acceleration is actually labeled "debug.sf.hw" and I'm pretty sure the sf stands for stagefright (which google refers to as sf a couple more times in other parts of the code) so if stagefright isn't turned on i don't know that, that field would do anything.

Just a hunch though.

Hi

I was forced to remove battery once as the phone would not respond. After that I am seeing the sprint boot music/video/logo when I power on the phone. Any quick fix to remove that? I thought this ROM got rid of that initial sprint screen.

it's weird if you've got music back in the sprint animation. have you tried re-flashing thundeROM?

If you have boot music you're not on ThundeROM or have flashed something or manually added something after you flashed thunderom which added the music back. Our's is a silent mp3

I flashed thunder rom and have not flashed anything else. All I did was remove battery and put it back once. How can i tell exactly which rom I am running.

Right now, you can only tell by visual confirmation. Because of certain licensing involved, we cant change the version numbers. If we do, certain functions break. Also visual confirmation doesnt account for what a person did or did not do to their phone.

Download thunderom 1.3, place on root of sd, boot into recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache (and if you're not on thunderom data/factory) then flash the ROM.

ok will try it this evening and post back.

What exactly I am looking for from a visual standpoint of view. It has the android central wall paper. The battery icon on the status bar has number on it.

Thanks

Nothing useful to add here, but I'm just another new android user that is extremely happy to have flashed this ROM. Using Quadrant I went from a 449 to a 923, and can most definitely feel the difference. You guys are awesome for doing this and I just wanted to say thanks!

I've been searching around this thread with no luck. If I flash to this ROM will I lose all my apps and contacts etc I have in the phone since you have to do a wipe? thanks

yes, you lose all apps, contacts, personal data/sms when you wipe factory data. but there are apps for that too, as they say. chk out titanium pro, it's been solid for me and many others i've read on androidcentral.

You dont need to worry about your contacts thanks to having a google account. Id recomemnd backing up your sms messages, and at least making a list of the apps you have on your phone. Apps you paid for will always be available regardless of how many time you flash/change your phones. Some apps have date so its important to back those up but flashing your phone isn't as devistating as it sounds.

KSmith

I have 2 LG phones. One rooted, with thunderrom and other with the stock rom.

Stock ROM
- the battery icon on status bar does not have a number.
- the wifi indicator is the standard one in black/white color
- Free space on the phone is about 120MB
- Under Settings - Applications has icon with android symbol
- Under Settings -Privacy has a black and white fence

On the one that I think I ave thunderrom phone
- the battery icon on status bar has a % of battery left.
- the wifi icon is cool blue
- free space on the phone is about 139MB. it showed 151MB free right after flashing. I Installed a few games like angry birds
- under settings - Applications has a 4 small squares with Right Top in green color
- Under settings - privacy has yellow fence

Am i running thunder rom on the second one officially? If yes, why am i seeing the sprint logo when I start up.

And Oh, one more there , There is no Sprint ID on the home screen. Instead I have internet icon it is place.

Thanks

-

Sprint logo on start up stays, crickets chirping during start up is gone. Yes you're running Thunder Rom, the only other rom for this phone is a black theme. Additionally in the other rom, titled nROM, while, in some versions of nROM, sprint id is disabled, the icon is still to the right of the apps tray. Thunder rom, unless you have changed the background, also has the android central android as the background and on the lock screen. There are a LOT of changes in thunder rom but the easiest way to tell if its thunder is if sprint id is to the right of the apps or not. If not its Thunder rom.

Thanks. That's what I thought. It's been awhile since I've messed with flashing. I did on my Hero when that came out, but I didn't touch it after that.

I got the same thing. Uninstalling it fixed it. I also had to uninstall quick boot to get an update. This may be an issue with preinstalled apps.
