I'll do my best to answer your questions. Someone let me know if I'm wrong.

1. I am curious as to how TR (1.8.3) handles JIT and Stagefright.
a. I see that the ?BuildProp-ThundeROM-Stagefright.zip? is pushed to the sd card after flashing, but do I now need to flash that zip as well in order to enable it?

Yes, you need to flash the Stagefright buildprop to enable JIT and Stagefright.

b. Is JIT in the ?BuildProp-ThundeROM.zip? and does that need to be flashed as well (after flashing TR)? If not how is it enabled?

I don't know but I don't think so. :p

c. What are your thoughts on JIT and Stagefright; are they needed? I seem to remember reading that they will help with graphics/games.

JIT seems to screw up the Youtube player on some peoples' phones (it has on mine since the VC update, although it worked fine on v9.) I don't know about them making a difference in games but they certainly give me a better score in Quadrant.

d. I ask b/c my quardrant scores are lower than I?ve seen them before (446-510). I know that they?re not as reliable as the Linpack scores, but I think I?m also getting low scores on that as well (MFLOPS: 6.966, Time: 12.04 sec), but I?m not sure.

Those are pretty normal without Stagefright enabled. Flashing the Stagefright build prop will put you up in to the 800-900 range.

2. I have ran into the ?launch day bug? (not coming back from lock w/out holding for options menu) and I was wondering if a ?dirty? flash would require me to reflash the HoneycombS2 theme by jasonevil?

Someone else is going to have to help you out with this one. Above my pay grade.

Thanks again for all of you guy?s hard work; it REALLY is much appreciated!!

Yes, dirty flash and let it boot fully just to be safe. Then back to recovery and reflash HoneycombS2.

And just to verify, in my case, the dirty flash DID fix the "launch day bug".

I think it's Stagefright that messes with Youtube, not JIT.

where do u put bootanimation.zip to replace the android one? Been looking sorry if I missed the thread if its posted.

i'm pretty sure its the same on this rom so it should be /system/media/bootanimation.zip

JIT is enabled in all the buildprops. It's actually even enabled by default with the stock ROM since the VC update too.

Yeah, it's Stagefright that messes up (puts a green line on the screen) video streaming. If you can live with the green line though, doesn't otherwise hurt anything.

Normally it's good practice to wipe cache and dalvik, but I think TR automatically wipes it for you when you flash the newer ROM version. It doesn't hurt to wipe them out. Just don't wipe data or else you'll lose everything and have to reinstall.

Some cases it may be necessary to wipe data, but going from 1.8.2 to 1.8.3, there's no need. Flashed mine the other day without wiping anything before flashing and all works fine.

You should use Xionia CWMA recovery. It works with ##786# reset. If you do ##786# reset with thunderc recovery it won't boot and you'll need to do the unbrick procedure. Yes, that service code they mentioned is your MSL. ##72786# is supposed to just reset your NVRAM and leave data alone, but sometimes it isn't aggressive enough. You can play along and try what they suggest. If it fixes it great. If not, you have the MSL code written down so you can do a ##786# reset without needing to talk to them.

You were absolutely correct sir, the 72786 did not work, but 786 did. if you ever come to Jacksonville ill buy ya a beer. thanks for your expertise.

------V1.8.3 4/05/2011------

Maximum events window manager can handle per second raised to 60
Proximity sensor debounce time reduced to 25

what do those do?

Glad you got it working.

I was offered a beer last month from a person in St. Augustine. That makes 2 beers, a few more and it be worth it to make a trip :)

From what I have been told the Proximity time does nothing... I tried it out as well and recieved no difference when changing the prox time.. As far as the windows manager... Not sure. Something that im sure the masters are ready to answer for ya lol.

I think that both of these were changed tho in this version to try to solve the lock issues that MOST of us have. As I have been told and tried.. it seems to be resolved by just reflashing your ROM. Or so it has worked that way..

I have NO MORE lock issues and if I do.. Ill just fix that dirty flash

Well KSmith is still testing the window manager but it turns out the proximity tweak does nothing from within the build.prop
