Declined on trade in because of BS reason that simply isn't true

Hope much did you get for the Note 4?


I got the email yesterday confirming they had evaluated my old Note 4 and are giving me the full $450 trade-in value they originally offered. Given my old Note 4 spent it's entire life inside an Otterbox Defender case and was in like new condition I figured I stood a good chance of getting the full trade-in amount. This morning I received another email from Verizon which told me they had applied the trade-in amount to my account and that I should get the first monthly credit (1/24th of the $450) in November.
 
maybe Samsung should take some responsibility and post a guideline on how they want their phones they are buying to be wiped and what steps need to be taken for their criteria to be met for the sake of the average user? I mean, if they were going to recycle the phones then whatever, but with the criteria of reusing them, the burden should remain on samsung. Shame shame.
 
I agree wholeheartedly. Supposedly my traded device is arriving back today. I'll be able to verify if I was in the wrong, but either way, if they were sincere about it, given how pedantic they are about only including the phone and ensuring only part of the printout is in the box, only UPS Ground, they give very clear instructions for everything else, and if people make any mistake there, they're also not forgiving. So if resets are indeed more complex, they add instructions. I can't imagine what someone non-technical would be doing.

They did the same thing with my iPhone XR which even the photo they sent me prooved it was reset. They botched it and sounds like they botched a lot of them. Waiting for a response from them after reviewing it again
 
So, I followed the instructions to the tee. I just received the device back and the reason stated on it is: Device Condition: Device locked.

It also says locked disabled: No. I don't think they would purposely say it was locked if it wasn't. Hopefully they let you send it back in for your full trade in value. They are approving much faster so shouldn't take long if so.
 
Sounds like a mixup for sure

When you figure all of the phones that are shipped back within a short period of time - surprised there aren't more mix ups - I'd love to know the number of phones returned and the number of screw ups and then compare that % to the normal screw up %

Of course posters here function at a 0% screw up rate.
 
Ok, after continuing in the process, I discovered that I did mess up, and I feel it would be unfair not to own up to that here. My apologies for the noise here. I did in fact forget to remove my Google account. So although it looked like the device was reset and ready for a new user, at some stage in the bootup process it asked for the previous pin...

This is the issue many of us have had - we THINK we removed the Google account - but we didn't - been there done that.

OMG another Samsung trade-in horror story. This is why I'm nervous whenever sending in my devices. Sorry this happened to you.
