If I like to root and change roms should I get the developer edition? Because I know if you root it, it voids your warranty. Would getting the developer edition keep the warranty even if I change the rom?

If they need you to call them, you'll get an email from them asking you to call. I think they run all of their orders through an automated verification system first, and only ask you to call if they're unable to match your info with the info in the system (I think it's based on your address primarily, so if you made a typo in your order form or if you formatted your address differently than the standard USPS format, you may have to call in).
This is highly possible. I was ordering immediately after they were available and I mistyped my own last name (seriously). That probably triggered the verification step.
Yeah, I had to call in as well, because the address that I gave them was a business address and I put the name of the company in as line 2, which apparently threw them for a loop. Also there was that whole fiasco with their website letting me enter a separate shipping and billing address.
Yeah I still need to verify my shipping address with them because they let me enter a separate one when I called in, but others have reported they weren't allowed to. I don't know where they'll ship this thing.
I'm also getting really jealous of all of these people who ordered from AT&T who are getting their notices and in some cases their phones already.

Don't worry. They'll return the jealousy when we are rocking 4.2 in a few weeks and they are still waiting for ATT to approve the update.

If that thing is "out for delivery" on friday I'll be staying in my office until it comes as that's where I'm having it shipped. They usually deliver here by 4pm, but sometimes it's later. "Sorry honey, I'll be home around 7, UPS hasn't shown up yet."
I just called HTC to verify my shipping address on the order as it was incorrect previously. The rep said these will be shipping tomorrow as promised. If that's the case I'll have it Friday. Fingers crossed.

I curious about this as well. I didn't get overnight and will not be home Friday if it ships that fast.
My whole f'ing day is blocked.I have my schedule, ah, left open on Friday for just such an exigency.
Hahaha, I work in a home office with my fiance so I have a lot of time to wait around the house, somewhat of a blessing methinks

I also confirmed by phone that they will ship out tomorrow overnight , for Friday delivery. They will be out finally! Now the waiting game for a tracking number starts....

It's sad that even though my wife will be home all day Friday I'm still considering calling in sick just to make sure as she's missed deliveries in the past due to not hearing the knock on the door or because sometimes our delivery people suck and they don't even bother knocking. I actually have a picture I took of a UPS guy dropping a package off right inside my gate in the rain... I was upstairs looking out the window.. saw him pull up.. he gets out, opens the gate.. sets the package inside and leaves...lol no knock on the door.. didn't even approach the door which was another 20 steps or so. Very excited though. Been using this HTC First for almost a week now.. the Z10 for 2 weeks before that.. and a lumia 920 for a month and a half before that since I gave up my Nexus 4... been missing high end android. The first is ok but has some screen sensitivity issues and well it's not really high end.
Yep, I was told the same thing. Had a bit of a panic when I got an email saying my order was cancelled, but it turned out to be the first order I placed over the phone when they took a handful of orders before they officially launched. Have to hand it to HTC, they took the original order and had it re-entered with them contacting me instead of me having to place another order. Nice service on their part.
