Did You Buy Insurance for Your S3?

Havent had insureance since they raised it from the old $6 a month plan, my otterbox is my insurance if something happens i can always go back to my htc thunderbolt

Verizon insurance through asurion is $5.18 per month. Extended warranty is $2 per month through Verizon. If you want both, then they call it tec and it is $7/mo.

I bought the BB Geek Squad on both 4g LTE's. So far i had 2 of my phones replaced @ BB, this was within the 30day return period. Now my wife's phone quit working. Sprint could not fix it over the phone so i was told to take it to Sprint Repair Center. They did a data reset, did not fix it so i had to leave it. They said if it was a hardware issue it would be $35 to replace. I guess that's since it is under HTC's warranty. Sprint said i could take out their TEP if i wanted to. I think the biggest difference between the two is a loaner phone from BB if they send it off, Sprint will repair on site or a replacement the next business day. I'm thinking about cancelling the GS & going with Sprint since they have on site repair. BB says 3 day turnaround.

I skipped on my wife's and I phones. We weighed the risk and cost and decided it was not worth it. Knock on wood that nothing happens. :)

I found out my wife's phone has to be replaced. It will cost $35 so i chatted with Sprint to see when it will be replaced. They don't have that info.i have to contact the store. If the phone is being replaced by Sprint why don't they have the info.?

On any $500+ device (replacement cost), I'd get the insurance.. For $6.99-$8.99 (depending on who you go through), it's peace of mind.. Not just for loss/damage, but for just things that can go wrong naturally.

I just bought my S3 4 days ago and somehow it ended up getting a green line on the front of my screen. Could I go back and return it? Or can I buy the equipment coverage and return it like if something happened?

Well, depends on what the "somehow" actually is. If it just suddenly showed up, I would say that there is some sort of defect and have Verizon (or whoever) look at it.

If, on the other hand, it "somehow" got that way due to an accident (dropped, etc..), then getting insurance after the fact is a bit dishonest.

Yes, TEC on all phones. WIth full retail at $450-600 for phones these days, yes.
I bought this phone for my daughter as a gift.
While waiting for the S3 to arrive, she dropped her phone. I used the insurance to replace it. It was in a case but the display still went bad.
We were going to use her old phone as a spare but, that became impossible when she dropped it. Needed to get the insurance replacement to have a spare LTE phone.

As a former Best Buy employee, purchasing your phone there is fine, but I would strongly advise against purchasing their protection plan. It's not well-managed from the store front, and results in many unhappy customers. Just do it through Verizon and have the $7 for TEC added to your monthly bill.
