Discuss Tips to Maximize Battery Life Here!

Why would I search the forum when this thread is about battery life? But thanks for the thread

Hahaha...because this has already been discussed in dozens of other threads. On dozens of websites, not just AC.

Give a man a fish....teach a man to fish. Time to evolve tdubby. Answers to everything are already out there.

You would think, but this is not the case. I reinstalled all apps, changed all settings back, wallpaper, everything (wrote everything down) within 10 minutes of the factory reset. The only thing i didnt re-enable was Facebook for HTC Sense and stuck with Facebook for Android (dont setup a facebook account while doing initial setup) since it was shown to cause MAJOR battery issues on the incredible.

My battery life is now night and day and im not running a task killer (other than task os) and everything is EXACTLY the same as before the reset (minus FB for HTC). I'm on track to make it to around midnight with around 20% left under very heavy usage. If I babied it a LITTLE i could EASILY get 2 work days out of 1 charge, for comparison sake, my phone died on me at work yesterday around 4 pm when it was idle over half the day (in meetings) before I did the reset last night. I work in an area with HORRIBLE sprint coverage and that does not help one bit (brought my blackberry tour to 25-30% daily until i bought a new charger for the desk and BB has amazing battery life), at home I expect to get great battery life out of this phone now!

Well, there ya go. Simply disabling Facebook for Sense would most likely yield the same results you are getting now.

Is it really that major of a drain? I really like having all that information synced to my phone. It's a shame. I'll give that a try and report back. If anything I'll have it sync less often and see if that helps. Weird though that my SystemPanel doesn't show Facebook as a drain at all. Hmmm... :(

you cant remove facebook for htc sense without a factory reset.............. you actually cant remove it at all as far as I read, its part of sense, you can just have it disabled if you dont setup an account during initial setup

thats the whole reason i did the factory reset, i saw the suggestion on an incredible post last night after getting horrible battery life, didnt see this topic until a few minutes ago.

apparently there is a bug that causes it to update constantly, causing your phone to never sleep? Idk thats what they said, maybe its worse if you have tons facebook friends that are constantly updating?

I doubt it cuz I don't have Facebook n my battery sucks. So maybe there is some truth to hard resetting the device.

FWIW. My EVO alerts me to new email in the gmail app before they show up on my PC which has g-mail open 24/7

No. There aren't any "lucky batteries" out there.

1. It takes several days of usage for Li-Ion batteries to really start to perform like they are supposed to. Call it "conditioning" or whatever...it's true. These batteries sat in a box for the last couple months. Give them a solid week or more for them to really stretch their legs.

As an avid R/C airplane hobbyist that has used a lot of (expensive) lithium batteries ... this isn't true. Lithiums are at their peak brand new. They will easily lose 10% capacity in the first month or two, and then steady up after that. The only thing that could be changing here is the charge % that the phone reports, but the lithium cell is not "conditioning".

Facebook for Sense is the battery whore. You can turn off the sync feature for the LIVE FEED part and save a ton of battery

READ HERE - IT'S ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED.

Also....a hard-reset will clear your memory. It can't hurt to do it every couple days. Memory management is supposed to be better with 2.2.

That would b a pain in the ass if I had to do a hard reset n reconfigure my Evo every couple of days. It wouldnt b worth it to have this phone.

At this point, I'll try anything. I'm doing the hard reset right now and will try and remember to report back tomorrow. Thank god for AppBrain--it should simplify the re-install of all my Apps.

DAMN IT! WHERE WERE YOU LIKE 15MINUTES AGO ARRRRGGG!

I just got done redownloading all my apps manually

Amazing Battery Life?

.... if you put your phone in airplane mode. I do this at work as an alternative to turning my phone on and off in between breaks (not supposed to have phone while working). I work 10 hours and the battery maybe drops 10% at most. So if u just want to play games(that dont need to connect) or listen to music or movies off of SD card this would be a easy way to super extend battery life. So is the battery life that much affected by looking for 3g/4g signals? Kinda weird since it is a phone and that's kinda it's primary function.

Don't get me wrong though I LOVE my Evo!

Makes sense, one of the biggest drain in any cell phone is the cell network. The display also consumes a nice chunk o' power.

battery life awesomeness!

Wow,

So I went from 4 hours of battery life yesterday to 14 hours with pretty heavy usage and its still going! Everyone should follow the tips on this site... it saved me :)

Thank you for the tip, I always forget that there's an Airplane mode.
