nope, i wasn't gonna root til the 2.2 problems were fixed

Terp I am rooted and everythings still there (phones got plenty of memory i had a storm lol)..so what do I do?

hmmmmm...the most common error you usually see with manual updates is the file usually isnt named correctly, but in this case it was named correctly to start off with (should simply be named "update.zip"). also, make sure the zip file is in the root (main) folder of the sd card on the device.

its also possibleyou guys might have just gotten a bad d/l. i would tell you to try re-download it, but until it gets mirrored, it might take some time, as the original source is probably getting pounded.

power down, power up while holding home button, release home when ! pops up, press search button, and viola! use volume rocker to navigate, camera button to select

you shouldnt need to unroot to apply the update, but you will lose root when you do it. z4root is apparently working for the new update, so you should be able to reroot

I got as far as the exclamation point on the DX, then nothing has changed in the last 10 minutes. Is there a delay at that point, prior to the appearance of the search selection? I'm just mildly panicked at this point.

once you get to the !, press the search button on the phone
