I couldn't agree more. I decided months ago this would be my last phone on VZW. I think all of the unlimited data rumors are very true and that's something I actually need. As soon as my wife's contract is up we'll be moving on. I'll ride it out until then with the Bionic.

I don't know if I agree with that. He's worked VERY hard on our behalf. I really hate the attitude in the US that it's not ok to fail. We see failure as something to be avoided at all cost. However, a lot of times we learn most from failures. The fact that if Moto fails to push out a JB build for an EOL somehow means his reputation is completely ruined is ridiculous.

I'm all about giving people second chances. I bought the hype and bought bionic day 1. I was promised ICS shortly after that. 1 year later they deliver it. This is dealing with constant data drops. It took 1 year before my phone was functioning properly. After ICS it was a great phone. Punit Soni came on and made that happen and props to him, but he also made a promise for JB. So if they can't get their act together and release jelly bean I will be offended. As Punit Soni said a million times don't make promises you can't deliver on.

I won't judge him until that comes to fruition. Until then he gets the benefit of the doubt by me.

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

I would totally jump ship, but you just can't find their wireless network anywhere else...

You sound exactly like someone else I've had this discussion with. He and I don't see eye to eye on this, and I suspect you and I won't, either. The problem is where to place blame. Punit has made the commitment on Moto's side to push out a JB build. They have gone through 6 builds already in attempting to fulfill that promise. They have either failed testing due to a feature VZW insists on having, or VZW has rejected them outright. It costs Moto money to keep doing this. Are you suggesting that in order to fulfill a "promise" (which is a joke, let's be serious....like I told the other person who pointed out this so-called promise, he didn't call you up and personally promise you something...it's a business promise which is not the same as him personally promising his friend something) they should just keep putting infinite resources into an EOL phone's LAST build? Because ultimately, it's not up to Moto. It's up to VZW. And they can keep rejecting the build indefinitely and IMO they will do so because they do not want the Bionic to get this build. So is that Punit's fault? The effort he's put in to getting us a build is for naught in your eyes if VZW ultimately rejects the build and Moto decides to move on? I don't agree. I look at the effort and realize the reality of a complex business situation. But that's just me.

I agree that he/they have done everything they could. I don't blame them. If this build fails they should just "leak" an unofficial build. Though, being a realist I know this will most likely not happen.

They can't leak the build. If they did they'd be responsible for supporting it. They'd be better off giving you all the 100 bucks and sending the Bionics to a Chinese landfill. I'm not kidding.

If T-Mobile could get LTE on the tower near me, I'd go with them. Otherwise I may have to consider AT&T which blows, but, at least they allow unlocked phones. Once your phone is unlocked, official updates don't mean a damn thing anymore. And people should, over the next 5 years, watch Google closely.

I don't see the distinction between a businesses word and a friends. Would a take a friend breaking his word a little more personally sure. At the end of the day I will vote with my dollar. I give Punit Soni a lot of credit for how transparent he is. He takes time and talks with people and that's great. However, I, like many people, consider my phone a 2+ year investment. If the company I bought it from broke all its promises on maintaining and updating, changed leadership, and proceeded to make a whole new set of promises only to have them break it again. Why in the hell is this company worth money. Samsung doesn't seem to have problems w/ verizon, neither does apple.

It's not a RAZR. And I'm being serious. The RAZR gets half assed crappy builds pushed out at the drop of a hat. The Bionic could have an almost nearly flawless build and VZW finds SOME reason to reject it. It's total nonsense and makes me SERIOUSLY reconsider doing business with them going forward.

Even if AT&T or T-Mobile put LTE in more places, their coverage still sucks in outlying areas. I live in Idaho, so I'm out in the fields and mountains. My in-laws live in Arkansas, so I'm out in the fields there too. And really, if Google started their own wireless network, it wouldn't start anything like Verizon, and would take forever to get decent. It's just frustrating. I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just looking at facts.

One more thing, why the heck is the forum "updating" posts instead of putting a new one in when I write two posts one after the other?

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really? You may want to do a bit more research on that. Also check out the Galaxy Nexus and see when it got 4.2.x compared to other carriers. I'll let you do the research about VZW and other phone MFG's if you choose to do so. Then we can have an informed discussion. Moto has WAY WAY bigger problems right now than pissing off a bunch of people who own an EOL phone. Besides, you're doing what the other person did...jumping to conclusions that they're going to break their promise. They haven't done that yet. I said it's possible. If VZW rejects the next build or it fails testing again, then they are going to pull the plug. And honestly...they should. Moto is having other problems with VZW right now that aren't public and I can't discuss here. It makes this situation look tame in comparison. If Punit had his way, he'd push this build without VZW's little crapware requirement. And it'd be a very solid build and truly fulfill his promise. You're saying that no matter the circumstances, because he promised something, he has to FORCIBLY make that promise come true no matter what. Again, I disagree. I think Punit's fault is not understanding the relationship Moto has with VZW (it's unique among mfg's...if you think about it, you'll understand how that is and what it means) and realizing how much power VZW has. Again, that's a mistake and something he can learn from. In any case, do the research on the other MFG's and VZW before thinking it's all Moto's fault. Trust me, you won't like what you find. If a NEXUS phone can't get updates past VZW, how in the hell is anyone else supposed to?

After researching your clue as to why, it makes me even more agitated. I'm lucky enough to live where there is more then one wireless service with solid LTE and I'll be going there.

Total nonsense isn't it? I mean, it's not like the Bionic shipped with the hardware necessary to use it natively (meaning you gotta go get a new SIM), it only works in 2 cities. What kind of a joke is that? Clearly it's a tactic designed to kill the Bionic JB release....and sadly, it's not only working, Moto is about to get the ire of the customers for "broken promises". VZW can suck it.
