DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Mid range replacement for the razr. I'm told it's very similar to an lte Nexus 4. Would be interesting if it were unlockable. ;)

There are those rumors that Google wants to be able to update it w/o the providers, it would make for a great fight:D.

I think Renaldo sounds better. I'm now going to refer to that person that posted the link as Renaldo. Trevor sounds more like one of Apple's engineers that would come to Moogle. People aren't sure if that would be a good thing yet, and has to prove himself after coming out of the Apple coma. ;)

google vs Verizon. That's what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. It's going to be interesting. I really hope they come to an understanding.

Well this little "gem" just came across the wire...HTC One won't be on the VZW. Anyone want to speculate why? I'm probably gonna go with the blame being on the insane control VZW tries exert over their devices & HTC having none of it.

Unfortunately I think its more of Verizon being like "thanks but no thanks". Doesn't make sense for anyone to exclude itself from the biggest network in the US.

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

Entirely possible to I suppose but I don't know why they'd turn down carrying a highly touted flagship phone from a manufacturer who they've carried in the past. Either way it certainly sucks for VZW customers who were hoping it'd be an option.

Supposedly htc is coming out with a droid dna plus. Same specs as the htc one.

My point was it hurts HTC wayyyyy more then vzw. I hate that vzw has this type of power over the oems.

A highly touted flagship from an OEM that doesn't have the following that Samsung does.

I'm waiting for a DROID-branded phone made by Huawei or ZTE.

Since it is getting quiet on here (thanks to Renaldo) what's everyone's thoughts on their next phone? Are any of you thinking of going to a tiered plan? Paying to keep unlimited? Switching carriers? What's everyone's thoughts?

Still a little over a year left on my contract, so too soon to even think about what I'll buy. If they still have the junk shared data plan as it is now, I'll probably go unsubsidized, which then will affect my buying decision.

Contract is up in November. If the rumors are true about the new moto/Google phones being cheap and unlocked I will definitely be staying with moto. But they are rumors at this point so who knows.

Is there a reason they can't carry both?

From what i understand, Verizon is planning on forcing everyone off unlimited as soon as they can. It doesn't matter to me that much, since i don't use a ton of data anyways.

What i really hope though is that they stop messing around with our phones and letting us do what we want with them.

In a perfect world device and carrier wouldn't matter. All phones would work on all radio frequencies, we would buy unsubsidized phones, any phone that we like best, then just need to pick a carrier and get their Sim. Verizon would be a little more expensive because you get better radio service, with some of the others being cheaper, but not as good. I'd still stick to Verizon because i like their product. Just my pipe dream...

I pay around $75/month for unlimited data, a legacy Alltel plan with 1200 minutes, 1000 text, the usual unlimited nights/weekends, and 10 "My Circle" numbers (all of which are exempt from my minutes and text limits). I'm out of contract in June.

I'm strongly considering unlocking the Bionic's GSM radio and going with Straight Talk on the AT&T network or perhaps trying to use the Bionic on Page Plus...the idea is that I'll step away from VZW for a while and see what they do, if they're going to keep upping prices, cutting features, and insisting on locked phones. If so, I'll think about a more permanent move somewhere else.
