DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

I went back and checked my emails from the ICS soak, and I had received the email on 10/11 and the soak test didn't start until 10/20. That would be consistent with SamuriHL estimate of "next" weekend.

Does anyone remember when the general rollout began? I seem to recall 10/21 or 22.

That was highly debatable. The soak supposedly didn't end until the 22nd so the consensus for those that believe that is that the general push didn't start until the 23rd. But many people got it pushed starting on the 20th who were not part of the soak test. As I eluded to before, the soak makes a bunch of people feel all special and whatnot, but, it really truly doesn't mean jack.

So, hopefully we "all" get JB...soak email or not...next weekend?

ROFLMAO. Not gonna happen....not officially anyway. Will we be able to get our hands on the update the minute it hits soak? Yes.

:) well, either way, it sounds like it won't be too long now...just hoping it's a solid build...frankly happy with the way my Bionic works on ICS...so as much as we all look forward to new things on JB, I certainly don't want to mess up a good thing

I posted this on another site earlier but I thought I'd share it here, as well. Just a reminder. :D

From what I've read, the RAZR JB root exploit works on the D4, as well. So I'm going to go ahead and be optimistic that we'll have the update with working root within a day or two of the OTA.

Don't bet on it. Until someone tries it, you can't make assumptions based on other phones. It doesn't work on RAZR hd, for example.

Probably reaching here but anyway, I wonder if anyone has convinced VzW to put them on the unlimited data plan since it has been swapped for tiered data plans? I've heard stories of people getting early phone upgrades all the time. If VzW had the iPhone 3G (my first smartphone) back in 2008, I would've signed up with them instead of AT&T back in the day. I would love to have unlimited LTE data, since it is often faster than wifi on my Bionic. I did, however, take that double data plan incentive when it was offered in late 2011 (jumped me from 5GB to 10 GB for the same monthly bill). I have no idea if JB will increase my daily LTE consumption, but I use on average 8.5gigs+ of data when not on wifi, a month.

As a matter of fact my daughter's phone was going and I went to Costco and the young lady at the kiosk was able to keep her phone on her unlimited plan (our family plan 4gig each for my wife and me). She somehow used my phone to temporarily transfer phones, don't know the specifics, didn't ask didn't want to rock the boat, so long as it worked.:) Sorry, misread post, we kept the plan.

Don't think new unlimited plans are going to happen, the trend is to kill them. You will probably get at least an ROFLMAO from some on that question.:)

Which is why I implied I was reaching out on a limb with the question, but sometimes people are able to twist VzW's arm enough.

Yeah, I suppose anything is possible, but I think the last time someone was able to twist the gorilla's arm it may have been Apple w/the iphone.
