I assume this is the thread you're referring to: Bionic on tmobile - xda-developers

It's a big thread (100+ pages) and the OP is just the question, not the how-to...and since I have HW B, I feel like the HW A instructions aren't sufficient. I could be wrong, though. I just haven't had a chance to go through all those pages, yet

Hey all.... now that we have JB would it be better to wait for roms based off the new kernel or can we still use what is out there so far. Was thinking of trying out the PACman v22.1.0 rom. Any advise on a good rom for our newly updated Bionic JB goodness? Also, many many many props and a huge shout out to Sam the MAN for the awesome HoB and all work and sacrifices he has made for us all.

If it's an ICS based rom, it won't work. If it's kexec based, it should. Rom dev has somewhat started from what I understand, but, a root exploit is really needed to make it safer and get things kick started into gear.

thanks Sam... I was just looking back at old posts from all over and all the excitement there was about a possible bootloader unlock for Bionic with the Motorola Unlock My Device. I am seeing how unsubsidized is the best way to go for total control and access to your phone.

Just because I have read many different ways and some conflict with others, I would like to know the best way to replace SuperUser with SuperSU.

With a working Superuser installation, install SuperSU. When you first run it, it'll attempt to get root perms from Superuser. Grant it. Then it'll replace the su binary with its own. At that point you can remove Superuser and just use SuperSU. When I had root (sniff sniff) that's what I use...SuperSU Pro. I use it on my Xoom, as well, and will be putting it on my RAZR HD on Tuesday when it comes.

I wouldn't. I've said many times I'm not into the rom scene on bionic. I know nothing about it at all. I only do roms that I can flash directly to the phone and locked devices don't lend themselves well to that.

I've released version 10 of the House of Bionic. It removes the automated su-backup for voodoo functionality. It's just not working for a vast majority of people. It still installs voodoo for you if you don't already have it, but, you WILL need to go protect root yourself in voodoo. However, I'm not cruel...I create a "hob protected backup" as a measure of last resort. Say you forget to protect in voodoo or things go horribly wrong. If you root with the version 10.0 HoB release, there will always be a su-backup in /system/usr/hob-needs-root that you can use with adb to restore root manually. Best I can do...

My wife's Bionic got the update last night and now her phone is stuck trying to sync her contact list with a white screen, lmao. I uninstalled Uber Sync and fiddled with it a bit, tried to manually update contacts from the cloud - nothin. Her phone was then stuck on a black screen for quite some time after i manually tried to update until it gave me an error and asked if i wanted to wait or force close. Can't wait for this stupid **** to hit my phone.

P.S. We are both on unrooted, OEM unmodified ICS.

P.P.S Now our phones refuse to hook into our router as well. Linksys WRT-54GL running Tomato (Linux firmware). Just keeps getting better and better.

So, thanks to timmy10shoes (one of my Bionic mentors), we have a new method for people to use to get to JB. All of you (including myself) who rushed to upgrade are going to kick your own @$$ now. Trust me. Using the cdt.bin from the 246 FXZ and using it to replace the cdt.bin from the 98.72.22 FXZ, you can then use the House of Bionic's FXZ Keep Data option to upgrade to JB. Big deal, says you...I'm already upgraded....so what....Ah the skeptics. The big deal, says I.....say you don't like JB or can't live without root. Fine....put the 246 FXZ back into the House of Bionic and downgrade away. "WAIT, WHAT??!! I heard, FROM YOU, that I'd brick my phone doing that!" Yes, YOU will...cause YOU took the update and didn't use this process. Therefore your security is updated. Using THIS method, however, the security is NOT updated and you can happily downgrade to your heart's content.

I take NO responsibility for those that try this. This is a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK and I will not provide ANY support for it whatsoever. But it has been confirmed to work so long as you follow the quite simple directions EXACTLY.

A word of warning...those who took the JB update already, don't bother. You're screwed. You WILL brick.

Damn Samuri I got all excited then read your last sentence and the wind got let out of my sails. Great Job updating the HoB for everyone, here's hoping for a root exploit soon.
