That email is spot on. I can confirm that.

My name is Joel, and I appreciate your interest in upgrading your phone and the possible changes to data plans. I am delighted to inform you that your existing data plan will not be changed and you can retain it, even if you upgrade to a new Smartphone. The new data plan pricing, which has not been officially released and cannot be commented on until an official announcement has been made from Verizon Wireless, applies to new lines of service only and existing lines upgrading from feature phones/multimedia devices to Smartphones.
I got the same email:
She also confirmed I have one last NE2 discount for an additional $50 off my next upgrade. Looks like VZW is going to keep me as a customer a little while longer.
Sources say alot of people are going to be in a world of surprise once tiered data hits.
Well here we are. 7/7. I didn't have a smartphone yet and couldn't wait for the bionic. I got the charge last monday and am very happy I did. I have probably used the data a little heavier than I will in the future just playing around with it and am already at 3.9gb. Thats pretty much just pandora radio and a couple of movies on hbo go. I expect to finish this months cycle with about 6-7gb of data usage.
I will probably use less as time goes on and the newness wears off but i feel bad for anyone who didn't lock in unlimited and plans on getting a 4g phone. 2gb of data is nothing for an entire month. I still plan on keeping an eye on the bionic but am content with the charge for now.
Doesn't verizon grandfather you in to unlimited data if you already have it.

Wow! How profound. Been using computers long?
Yeah, there will always be a new "latest and greatest", but there are few firsts. The Bionic is the FIRST dual core, LTE, 1GB, high res, 4.5" screen, front and rear camera, smartphone available, so, yeah, it's a pretty big deal... at least to me. Otherwise, I'd just stick with DroidX for another year.

Edit: Ooops! I thought I'd read it would be a 1GB, 4.5" phone, but I just saw a couple old (pre-April 2011) "fact sheets" on Moto's web site that said 4.3", 512MB. Guess time will tell. I really hope they aren't dumb enough to release it with 512MB. 1GB would be SO much nicer (and actually get me through my contract without major phone envy)...![]()
Does anyone understand that verizon charges more now for data and their LTE is just 4g and it is cheaper for them to put everyone on 4g and they make more. Yes verizon has become a money whore! Cheaper for them costs us more...what a concept huh, rip off the people that have made them what they are!
