Every phone has drawbacks and there are many people on the DX/DX2/Atrix/D3 forums who really like the devices and some that, *gasp*, even like MotoBlur. Also, I think you are overstating it when you say "many reviewers reported poor reception." I have read/watched quite a few reviews for Motorola Android phones and there are almost no complaints about reception/call quality in them.

As with anything, YMMV and you need to do your own research and decide what device will fit your needs the best.

You are right. I should have said that the SG2 will be good competition for the Bionic and to look out for it.

Honestly, I'm interested in both phones.

I've only been signed up in these forums for about a week (been lurking much longer) and I think people who are interested in the Bionic get really annoyed by people who like the GS2 who post in this forum simply to put down the Bionic. There are a few people (I won't mention any names...) whose entire posting in this forum is centered around how the GS2 is infallable and the Bionic is going to be awful. It just gets old after a while and people tend to fire back. That's what you're getting.

I agree with this completely. And honestly, for those of you waiting specifically on the SGSII and bashing the Bionic.. it's only a matter of time (probably a few months) before we see something that'll come blowing it out of the water. Probably from Samsung themselves. Just chill, enjoy getting and contributing information and discussion about the phone you like, and stop worrying so much about the occasional troll. Besides, the sooner we jump onto a phone, the sooner we can upgrade!

I am getting the Bionic. I just got a Droid 3. The Droid 3 is awesome!

Starting to really wonder if I want to wait for this phone anymore.. $300 (well like $270 with my upgrade, big deal =\ ) is a lot for a phone that has so much going against it from the get-go.. the moto-blur stuff that everyone complains about (I'm coming from blackberry so bear with me), the pentile screen that isn't up to par with the competition, the battery life which, lets face it, is not going to be very good with 4g.. Plus I feel like I'll be able to use wifi so much that I wonder if I really will need the 4g so bad, at least with this generation of phones.

So I'm wondering if I should just grab the droid3 and be happy with it, I know its going to have a lot of the negatives I mentioned above but its half the price (maybe even free...my buddy just got one before they put up the BOGO deal so he might be able to go back and get another...)..

Can someone give me some encouragement to hold out and drop the cash for bionic or does my thinking seem rational enough? If I do wait for bionic I'm going to be giving it some CLOSE scrutiny especially battery life in the first 2 weeks and if it ain't worth the price I'm sure I'll end up returning it and getting the d3 anyway...

I have the D3 and I plan on buying the Bionic as well. The BLUR on the D3 is nice and smooth. It is relatively unobtrusive. I'm sure the Bionic will be spectacular.

Let me make something VERY clear gentlemen. I never said the Bionic is going to be awful, bad or junk. It is going to be a great phone. IT WILL BE A GREAT PHONE. My complaint(s) are rooted in the fact that I, Me as in CK, think that the Bionic should have been released in May. An August/September release for this particular handset is too late. It's a slightly upgraded Atrix (different processor/slightly larger screen). If people are happy with that and think thats a huge upgrade and worthy of purchase more power to them but I personally think it's not worth it. New tech is not that far behind and purchasing this handset this late in the game doesn't make sense to ME. Does that make it awful? Does it not make it any good? Not at all. It's going to be a great phone and it will make people happy.

So enough with the hurt feelings and being sensitive. We are talking about tech in here and A LOT of us are hardcore techies that demand A LOT so at times it may appear we are beeing negative but in actuality we are frustrated with things so we voice our frustrations and displeasure.

So can't we all just agree to have some sort of dialogue between us even though we are on different sides of the fence? I see no reason not to have a discussion about a products shortcomings or strenghts and everything in between.

Anyway I know some of you will still say I'm this or that and thats fine. I'm not going to argue and engage in negative banter but i'm sure there are a few here that don't agree with ANY of my opinions but can at least acknowledge we should ALL be able to discuss ALL things between us in a civil manner.

In closing this novella, you can bet if Motorola ever gets their act together I will be the first in line to purchase their equipment.

Thank you sir. I'm glad you are able to just ban certain people. Some of these threads provide good info and updates but there has been a disturbing trend lately that I hope to not see anymore. It goes a little like this:1)CK posts something negative about the bionic 2)people jump all over CK 3)CK defends himself, says he means nothing negative, but continues to antagonize people 4) people jump all over CK even more 5) thread gets closed.

I hope this is the end of that trend. Now I have to go collect some pop cans to help me pay for the Bionic whenever it comes out. $299...whew

I just hope something leaks over the weekend...if we can pre-order 7/28, something more should be happening soon. Don't get me wrong, we have had some nice info these past couple days, but it could be a long, dry, weekend. Thank God I am off Monday; maybe the next BIG news?

Agree some people should be banned from certain forums because they just antagonate others and Don't intend to ever buy the phone.

My only question for you CK is, since the SGS2 has virtually identical specs to the Bionic, why don't you feel the same about that phone??

Because it's Moto and not unlocked so people think rooting is all people care about so that's why samsung is better. Moto is better with updates though most of the time.

Most likely they wont say anything just like they did with the droid 3. Just saying its not an iphone so they wont announce preorders.

More ram? Theres no way any phone is going to have more then a gig anytime soon. The bionic has a strong chance of being run at 1.2ghz, im sure the 4430 can run just as smooth at that clockspeed. If they run it at 1.0 its just for battery life reasons with LTE. You can take of webtop and make it vanilla clock it up to 1.2 just fine once devs get started.

Not to speak for CK either, but I think I have a good grasp on it. I think items 1 and 4 are the biggest. I dont believe item 3 and 5 will be true. But another would be TouchWiz versus Blur. And lastly, it's performance. The combination of CPU, RAM, and interface, may not be vastly different spec-wise, but there has been nothing that has even approached the performance and sheer smoothness of operation of the GSII

It would be hard to imagine they would give the same treatment to the first dual core LTE phone. True It won't get the iPhone treatment, but it should get something
