Droid turbo - Subaru Forester Bluetooth pairing problem

I just got back from the Subaru dealership, again. The original radio in the 2013 Impreza stopped remembering our phones when we turned off the car. So last week, they installed a new radio (under warranty), but I couldn't pair my phone (5.1.1) and the service guy couldn't pair his radio so they ordered a new radio and installed it today. We had the same problem, but the tech could pair his two year old phone. After various failed tries, we went inside and the mechanic started searching the Subaru website for advice. He found a page that said if there is a problem with pairing Android phones, try changing the passkey from 1234 to 0000. As soon as he did that, my phone paired with the radio.

Thank you all for posting in this thread. I'll try the 1234 to 0000 Passcode suggestion tomorrow! 2015 Subaru Forester here. Original radio had my LG calls come through as if the other person sounded as if they were underwater. My husband's identical phone sounded fine. Dealer said we needed a new radio head. That was ordered and pit in. Didn't help. Then they decided it needed a new microphone. (Why a microphone would affect how incoming calls sound I have no idea.) That was ordered, switched out... and still no change. Except now the CD Player would never play a CD but only give a "Check Disc" message. They decided a whole new radio would solve the problem(s). That was switched out today. The whole new radio won't pair with my LG G5 at all. They tried other salesmen's phone. They paired just fine. Their "Bluetooth Expert" tried ... his paired fine... Mine didn't.

The dealer called the Subaru Tech Department and was told that a newer software update is preventing the pairing and that I should contact LG for a fix.

I needed to buy my husband a new phone anyway so went t T-Mobile for another G5 for him. The kind woman at T-Mobile tried pairing them... No go.

So your 0000 Passcode suggestion is MOST welcome to stumble upon. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks!

Problem: Bluetooth not pairing

Vehicle: 2015 Forester premium, non-nav

Troubleshooting: Tried several phones, mixed results below:
Droid Turbo, Android 4.4.4 - fails as soon as I tried connecting
LG G2, Android 4.4.2 - Asked for pin but failed each time
Samsung S5, Android 4.4.2 - Asked for pin but failed each time
HTC One M8, Android 4.4.4 - Failed first time, worked second time
This phone was rooted with a custom rom
Iphone 4 - worked no problem

I also tried changing the PIN to 0000 once we got one of the android phones paired. I then tried pairing my phone (turbo) and when it came to the pin, it defaulted back to 1234.

I have paired both the Samsung and my turbo to our other car, 2013 Impreza with no problems.

All of this information leads me to believe it's some sort of android problem, just wondering if anybody else has come across this and found a solution yet. I tried searching and I found a bunch on the Bluetooth dropping connectivity but I can't even get it paired.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

I had similar issue with my new Google pixel. I had to disconnect/forget my Samsung G2 and any other Bluetooth device first before it would pair with my phone. Someone else posted this and it worked
