I went into the vz store yesterday and asked to see a demo. of course they told me they couldnt. but the rep did make me an appointment for release day first thing in the morening. told me to call her the next day to confirm which i did. soooo ill be at vz first thing in the morning they open at 9am.

Just got back from a local VZW corp store where I will be purchasing ( well exchanging my DINC) for an X. Through the process of ordering the DINC (backorder mess) I wanted to cancel my order when i found out that the new droid was coming and wanted the X instead but they delivered the INC and since the INC were on BO forever VZW sent out a 25 dollar gift card towards any purchase with a exp date of today. So I went today and was able to purchase a silicone cover and some screen protectors for my X (minus my 25% discount) before the coupon expired. The girl was very helpful and said that location has 30 phones to sell and only 6 pieces of each accessory. I was also able to order the leather wrap case with the built in kickstand to be delivered on friday! I will be in line at 7am tomorrow!
Sounds like you guys are having better luck than me. I found out here in small town Nebraska. My Verizon store has ONLY TWO X's!!!! Crap.... They are holding both for two people already, pry work there. So I guess I'll have to wait longer and order online and take another week. I just hope that ordering online tomorrow will have them???
Just got back as well and had a similar experience to others. I went in to look at the accessories and they had 6 of each. She sold me the docking station and car mount today. I also checked about their list since a rep put me on one prior when I was in to see a demo unit. I wasn't on "the" list, but on some other reps list that would be in later the next day. After some back and forth between the reps, they put me on "the" list and set up a time and will have a phone set aside. I agree the process is confusing and not consistent and the reps weren't clear among themselves. They did expect to have plenty of supply, but I can see where this doesn't make them look very good to the customer even if V is just trying to hype the phone.
can you pick up one at a corp store and have them bill it to your acount like you do online or do you have to pay up front?
Woot! Just played with the in-store demo before school today! The camera bump is SO much less noticeable in person. Felt light but strong in the hand, but not like it would slip out. Performance was smooth and quick like I expected. 13 HOURS TO GO!

)I'm going to be right in front of the Verizon Wireless store, from four in the morning, till opening at nine, then when i get my ticket that they are handing out before they open, i'll call my dad so he can come sign the pin-pad accepting the payment for my phone!
I think so unless it's different for a phone. When I bought DX accessories today, they asked me if I wanted to bill it to my account.
Attention every1 whos getting droid x..I just talked to a verizon store representative and just in case you dont know..if you go in today you can deposit 50 dollars and tomorrow ur guaranteed a droid x no matter what time of day u pick it up.
verizon customer service was kind enough to change my every two year contract date from july 25th to today July 14th. SO I will go tomorrow and get my droid x
