Droid X pre-order from Best Buy

i went into my local Verizon store today and they knew nothing about that. but they said even if u get the phone at best buy just go to a Verizon the same day and if they are doing that promotion they should be able to give you the $99.99 price

Thanks, that sounds promising. The only small kicker is their use of the word "should", rather than "will". I plan to run over to my local VZ store tomorrow to verify that they will do the same here.

Actually their stated regular $150 regular price is still lower that I've seen that item available for even on the internet. Interesting that it's a class 2 device, but presumably, that's all the speed capability the DX can utilize (but then again I presumed that the Apple iPhone 4 designers knew all about bare radio antennas and what happens when you grab them in your hands).

Those who are going to pay full price, I suggest going to verizon. When I bought my incredible @ full price, I sent in my rebate and got $100 back even though I wasn't supposed to. So the only problem it seemed anyone who paid full price at BB or even had a Best Buy receipt got denied.

will BB hold my pre-order beyond the July 15 drop date?

I was the first to pre-order at my local BB with the hopes that VZW would move my NE2 date from August 8th to July 15 but had no luck in getting them to move the date back for me. I even told them that I was the first to order at my local BB but nothing.

$100 bucks is $100 bucks so I am going to wait till August 8th, and pay $99 for the X but here is the question, will BB hold the phone for me until August 8th or give it to #2 on the pre-order list? If not then I will buy accessories with the $50 GC and order online form VZW on my NE2 date.

I'm #1 at my local BB and haven't had a call for an appointment as of yet but I'm sure that I should be fine being #1 on the list.

Hope you get it, I'd guess that they should have around 10. Any less than that would be a real joke.

Just dropping a general question here, forgive me as I didn't read the entire thread. Is Best Buy selling it for $199.99 with instant rebate on day one? I'm seeing $149.99 prices mentioned in previous pages, just a bit confused and curious. Thanks folks

With respectful persistence you may still be able to get VZ to move your NE2 date. My contract end date is Nov. 28, and my NE2 was July 28. I first sent an email to CS asking about moving my NE2 date to July 15, and received a phone call from a rep. She insisted there was nothing she could do to move my date.

The next day I called CS and talked to a rep. I asked her three different times to move my date to July 15, and she kept insisting there was nothing 'SHE' could do. So I told her that I knew VZW had moved the date for others and would she ask a supervisor.

She did talk to a supervisor and was able to change my NE2 date to July 15. I have checked my account at MyVerizon and indeed my NE2 date now shows July 15.

The $149.99 price is just the $199.99 minus $50 because of the $50 Best Buy gift card you have to buy in order to reserve a phone for release day which you could use when you make your actual purchase (so you would need to pay $149.99 on the day of purchase, but you already spent $50). Either way, you're still paying $199.99.

Sucks that you had to go through that kind of hassle. I emailed customer service once and they moved my date to July 14 because I told them I wanted to get the Droid X. My NE2 date was July 21st. Thankfully, they eventually moved it up for you.

I hate to admit it, but I rarely take anything from a store clerk at face value anymore, especially in the tech arena.

I'm hoping they don't put me on the spot by having it ready for pickup early, because my ATT contract expires on the 15th, and I don't want to give them any excuse for dinging me with an ETF.

I think I finally made a final decision to get the DX tonight, after tormenting over the possibilities of the Samsung Galaxy.

I was also #1( Written on the paper as well) but i was told about appointments, which is what they did for the iphone 4 relase and he said it worked so well and was so relaxed that they were doing it again. I havent recieved my call yet. I was told that if the phone was in stock b4 launch day i could have it b4 the 15th. So im keeping my fingers crossed for the 13th or sooner.

I went through the same Galaxy S dance and decided that the differences would be too minor for me to care... and I can get the Droid X earlier.

I'm actually in the same boat with AT&T, but I have a little more room because my contract is up on the 12th, so I probably won't have a problem. I cannot wait to be done with my iPhone 3G... iOS 4 really kicked its ass and I want to stop drooling over Droid X videos and actually play with it myself.

Not to take up valuable space in an Android forum with details of iPhone issues, IOS 4 had the same effect on my 3G. I am just coping with the new problems, waiting for the 15th to arrive. All it has done is increased my ardor to be done with Apple, and discover my new friend Android.
