sorry i don't remember the name of the last cs rep i spoke with. now i'm dealing with verizon's site having 'technical difficulties' whatever that means.

I ordered mine on Sunday, the rep told me 9/7 would the ship date. I called today with a billing question and the rep told me the ship date change to 9/8. Hopefully it will arrive sooner since I will be out of town that week.

Should I take tomorrow off?? I get off at noon tomorrow but will be mowing at "the farm" from 1 pm till about dark. I wonder if I can pick it up? I've heard there has to be an attempt to deliver before you can schedule a pick up. By the way, it's coming from Memphis, TN. I live in Springfield, IL.

Just got off the horn with FedEx CS, they have to attempt the delivery, then I can pick it up. No problem. Did I mention....Wooooo HOOOO!!

Ordered online on the 19th when it was showing ship by date of 8/31. Checked the order Sunday and saw the "due to overwhelming demand..." with a new ship date of 9/6. Got an email last night that it shipped and the FedEx tracking info shows it should be delivered today (NJ). Sorry to those that are waiting longer than I did but hopefully everyone will get it sooner than the estimate.
I'm pretty excited bc mine was scheduled to be delivered september 3, but I got an email monday saying it was shipped and will be here today.

The site is working for me. But I haven't gotten a delivery notice and the website still says 31st. Ordered the 17th.

the website is working again for me again too and still saying the 31st. i called them when it wasn't working and was told the 31st should be the outside date but bad news it possibly wouldn't! they also told me that shipping does depend at least in part on availability in your area. that would explain why people in certain parts of the country seem to be getting theirs sooner. they also repeated that the magic email will come even before cs knows you're getting shipment. seems like they could be able to tell you sooner, like it will ship tomorrow. i'm going to give them til 8/31 because i have no choice. if it goes past that then....the stores don't have them where i am so i don't know i guess i'm stuck.
Like I said before to someone just best to wait it out. Looks like it closing in on us and probably within the next shipment from Motorola. 2 Weeks in the end isn't that bad for an item that been out of stock since it went on sale.
i hear you. i'm going to but it just sucks. the lack of information bothers me more than the wait itself.
Tracking says mine is "out for delivery"! The anticipation is killing me. It's actually more exciting than Christmas morning!
I called Verizon yesterday and the rep couldn't give me an answer on why some people are receiving shipping notifications even though they ordered their Droid X days after others who still have gotten nothing.

Geography makes a difference. Like i explained to people that see them in stock at stores or ordering them at the stores and getting them before the online orders. The main warehouses would not be set up for shipping directly to users. So its the local (regional or district) warehouses would get shipments based on normal allotment procedures, and its those warehouses that then send out these orders based on stock. While I don't work for Verizon, this is the same with most nationwide retailers that also do online ordering. Even then they don't go through all the phones because of the general allotment each store front would get its own allotment and that includes online orders as 1 store front.
Ordering online gets the most amount of stock going to it. They can't ignore in store demand for the online orders. In a way those stores have shipments promised to them long before anyone ever ordered a phone.
The wait is killing me. Not only is my BB Storm giving me a problem where I want to throw it against the wall I just want my new phone.
