I am seeing the same thing on my LG G3 for the m, k & "." in portrait mode.

It works in landscape mode.

When I switch to landscape mode, I can see that, that section of the screen is no longer accessible.

It also explains why when I swipe to move up or down the page all of a sudden the page goes away.

Hi, I'm facing the same problem with my Sony Xperia Z3 compact. I seems to be that there is an vertical area on my display which doesn't recognize the touches properly. This was confirmed by using a TouchScreen tester. As this problem appeared overnight without any physical influence on the phone I'm still wondering whether I'm facing a software problem or a hardware problem which would result in an expensive repair.

Is there any news on this topic?

Thanks a lot. I was afraid that this would be the answer. But still hoping as I never read of a similar problem in the Apple World. Is there any information whether a new digitizer will really solve the issue?

I had a similar problem with r, f, c words in my mobile. Tried many ways but nothing worked. Got a temporary fix. Change your swipe keyboard layout setting from FULL to THUMB. Now all the keys worked. However you will miss the swiping... 😢

Same issue as poster but happening to a Fairphone 2 and effecting the "1" key, if the number row is shown (on SwiftKey), or the "q" key in all other cases.

Started all of a sudden though I noticed having installed, and quickly uninstalled, Touchpal yesterday after their annoying ads showed up all over the screen. Maybe malware?

Hi,

I have the same problem as you with a Fairphone 2. It started off with the Q and 1 keys not working - when you press them the neighbouring character shows i.e. W or 2.

I was able to work around this by turning the phone to landscape. However, the problem has now got worse with I key not working - when you press it you get a UO and likewise when you press K it comes up as JK. The number 8 also doesn't work and instead comes up as 79.

It's now getting really impractical to keep turning the phone round so I need to fix this. I've tried downloading different keyboards but the same problem occurs even if the keys are in slightly different places on the screen. I've also tried several diagnostic apps and they seem to show the screen is working fine and appropriately responsive to touch.

Being a Fairphone I've dismantled it and put it back together to see if any physical connections had come lose but that's done nothing either.

Is there any consensus yet as to whether this is a hardware or software problem?

Hi,

I have a problem with my Nexus 4, now out of warranty, running 5.0.1

The "e" and "3" keys have stopped working in portrait. Touching the e just types a w or an r (two letters on either side), However, The "e" and "3" keys work OK in landscape.

I'm not aware of anything that happened to cause this problem, it just started a few weeks ago.

Swipe letters works fine in landscape, but in portrait there's no swipe line over the letter "e" when I swipe across the row - line appears right up to edge of r and w but then there's a gap over the e. This is the same in all keyboards tested.

There's no problems with that part of the screen, I can touch OK and screen works fine when not using keyboard.

Tried safe mode, still doesn't work

Tried 4 different keyboard apps, still doesn't work

Tried Resetting App Preferences, still doesn't work

Phone hasn't been dropped or damaged, and everything else works fine.

I'm really out of ideas - can anyone help? :)

Thanks.

J.

Try going into your display settings and decrease the screen resolution on your phone it worked for me
