I was able to install it from market.

I've since managed to flash the phone. I had to resort to reverting to v9, root, then back to VCD so I could maintain root access after boots.

Mind you I started with no knowledge of flashing phones and hopes of 1-clicks working, but all of them froze up until I reverted to v9 using the LG mobile tools. By that point I'd already memorized almost every command necessary to root so didn't bother with the 1 click apps :/

Weird, it works for most people but some it just fails on them, if theres anything i can do to help let me know and oh yah i forgot about SU being in market

thanks for the inquiries heres the answers to your questions
1. V9 Stock recovery is Sprint's STOCK recovery like the recovery you had when you first got your phone.
2. Yes you can i do it all the time.
3. It is HIGHLY recommended that you wipe cache, wipe data/factory reset "dont worry about this factory reset it doesnt cause a brick like the one in the menu does in settings so DONT EVER DO THAT, and wipe dalvik cache in the advanced menu EACH TIME BEFORE FLASHING A ROM! Unless you want to experience some random problems here and there with your rom so backup alllllllll system data/apps everything then go and wipe all your stuff then flash the rom and restore with titanium backup.



You just gotta wait, i had that stuff happened to me too oh and if you stop during the gingerbreak YOU MUST REBOOT! theres no ifs ands or buts.
EDIT: wait you have the superuser app installed but your not rooted?

Help got to last step where it says phone is now rebooting you are now rooted with gingerbreak. but phone never rebooted. what do i do?

go ahead and reboot your phone and try again if that doesnt work go download drews gingersnap program its listed in the first post

Got it now Alvis( Your collab file that is )...My next question is...if im returning to a stock rom....do i need to install a stock dump first? then return to the V9 recovery image?

I do have some adb knowledge, accept for the fact i couldnt get the prompt to work on my pc...lol :-/

Any help is still and allways will be appreciated.

I did all this using the command line method (old dos guy here) but I have an appreciation for your effort with this utility.

Friend just got this phone. But the version on it is 2.2.2, will this still work on it?
Also what about OTA updates (does this stop them)? I don't want to have to redo all this for her

Should work fine on 2.2.2 (which is the latest available update).

As far as OTA updates go, that's all on you. Your phone will not install OTA updates until you specifically allow it to.

works with 2.2

Should work fine on 2.2.2 (which is the latest available update).

Just ran it and worked with no problem. I must say a very outstanding job. And she thanks you too. Time to start heading off onto the rom Section.

Which recovery do you recommend. I'm so used to using cloccwork mods on my phones.
