Question Each new app crashes

Hi, everyone,

since some time, I've been experiencing this issue: After an installation of a new application (Play store, APK), right after the attempt to open it, the phone restarts — it is a “soft” restart (taking a few seconds, only), not a full-fledged reboot. The behavior repeats after every next try to run the app.

I uninstalled some apps installed just before the bug occurred — no help. Android 13 on my Nokia C32 is up-to-date, as are all the apps. Malwarebytes scanning detects no threats.

What may be the cause? How to solve the problem?

Well you have Google back up which should restore most things back
Many, but not all, not even most — as my Google account is nearly full, the system stopped backing-up some time ago.

But, why, the hell, is this necessary?! I always believed that Android was a stable, Linux-based system. Yet it seems to be way worse than Windows.

Might /e/OS be better?

Android is pretty stable at least I know on the high end device with more storage and ram but if you start maxing out those things then u will run into issues, maybe that's part of your problem getting full the storage on your device?

What storage size do you have on your device? Are you using an SD card to store your personal data? If you are using an SD card, is it formatted as adoptable or portable? If you formatted the SD card as adoptable that could be the reason for the crashes. SD cards are not recommended for installing apps; they should only be used to store user data such as photos, videos, documents, and music files.

The values are as follows

storage: 35 GB used out of 64 GB total
memory: 2.5 GB available out of 4.0 GB total

I only use SD card (256 GB) for storing photos, videos, downloads, etc. The SD card hasn't even been in the phone during the device set-up.

I don't remember any options for formatting — if there were any, I certainly picked the recommended one.

It sounds like there is a compatibility issue with the newly installed application and your device's software. Try clearing the cache and data of app from the Settings. And consider booting your phone into Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. If the app works fine in Safe Mode, it's likely that another app is causing the conflict
Welcome to AC!
Good suggestion but 3rd party apps won't work in safe mode

Hi, @milescrawford22,

THANK YOU for the tips!

I had cleaned the cache before, I did again — no help here, unfortunately.

I tried the safe mode, as you suggested, but all 3rd party apps got disabled, so I couldn't check whether it helps or not.

Further, I uninstalled the Authy app, which I believe was the one that asked me to grant it root rights. Just in case, I also uninstalled the BullionVault app, which required me to install Authy. Neither helped.

If we assume that (possibly) my phone got rooted, is there a way to “unroot” it?

Well, according to this article, it should be possible, so I'm gonna check and try, possibly. I'll let you all know.

Nope, no escape here.

Magisk is NOT installed, whilst it is impossible to install any new apps, file managers not excluding (SuperSU even isn't available for Android 13). In the standard Files file manager, I cannot see any System folder (even after disclosing the hidden files).

Android
definitely needs an immutable fork, such as Fedora Silverblue Linux desktop is!

Today's Android is crappier than the crappiest Windows.

😥

The device you have runs a stripped down version of Android called Android Go. It lacks some capabilities that regular Android offers. It's like comparing Windows 11 with Windows 11S.

Regular Android is better than Android Go. You're limited by the Go version, not by Android itself.

OK, I understand. (y)
Does it anyhow affect my issue? What can I do about it?

PS: I like simplicity.

There is no way to predict which apps will work on Android Go devices, and developers don't prioritise app optimization for Android Go. You would be better off purchasing a budget device that runs full Android such as something from Moto.

THANKS for the tip, but:

1) I had installed apps before the issue occurred — I successfully still run these apps.
2) Things changed in some moment, since which I cannot run (not install) ANY new app!

Thus, the reason must be else.
