Question Each new app crashes

Hi, everyone,

since some time, I've been experiencing this issue: After an installation of a new application (Play store, APK), right after the attempt to open it, the phone restarts — it is a “soft” restart (taking a few seconds, only), not a full-fledged reboot. The behavior repeats after every next try to run the app.

I uninstalled some apps installed just before the bug occurred — no help. Android 13 on my Nokia C32 is up-to-date, as are all the apps. Malwarebytes scanning detects no threats.

What may be the cause? How to solve the problem?

Welcome to AC!
So you downloaded an APK of the Google Play store?
Hi, @mustang7757,

THANK YOU!

Nope, not really. I only tried to install an application, which — just like others — crashed when installed from the store, from a downloadable APK available — as an alternative; in order to test whether the bug might be hidden in the store installs — it isn't, obviously.

Ok which sources you got the APK apps from ? I pretty much trust only APK mirror
And which apps are the issues (name)?

Hey, guys,

in fact, I only attempted to install the Dukascopy's APK, after the store install attempt failed - no other APKs, AFAIR. Indeed, all apps (tried >10 so far) failed to open/run after being installed! I don't remember them all, but virtually everything I throw at it, does the same. :(

Another thing to know about APK installs is if your installing a previous version you might have to uninstall the current version not so much with Newer versions but another thing is APK mirror has its own package installer which can work better then the phone came with .

Thank you, @mustang7757, but I'm quite sure that APK isn't the obstacle here — the behavior appeared long before I tried that only particular APK.

I've uninstalled all the crashing apps — all the others were installed from the store.

The ones from play store are current version and crashing just to cover all bases so your not installing same version u did try previous ones?

No, I haven't. Shouldn't the Play store automatically detect my Android version and associate it with the correct app version?

The situation repeats with Avast, Avira, and AVG installs: The apps install, but when ran, they crash.

It must be something on the system-level, I believe. But, why don't old apps crash? (All are being automatically updated to their latest versions.)

I wouldn't try installing APK of banking app. Are you running a rooted device? That could be why the Play Store official banking app won't install.

Yes play store should give the most current version sometimes automatically and sometimes u have to go into play store to see if any updates are available, so what I'm trying to say is when you try install the APK use a previous version then the one you currently have maybe the current version is a bug , but try from APK mirror see what the results are but something more strange is it's happening to more than 1 app.

Yep, it's happening to ALL!

Are you using WiFi or mobile data? If WiFi is this your home network or work? Work might block certain things with their firewall. Is this a personal device or a work device?

Are you using any VPN? If so what happens if you turn off VPN?

For installations, WiFi only. Home network, personal device. I have not tried turning VPN off in this respect, AFAIR.

The apps DO install (including icons), they DO launch, but right after that the phone (shortly) restarts.

My blurred memory is telling me that some time ago, an app (don't remember which one) asked me to grant it root rights — I did confirm, AFAIR.

Might that cause “rooting the device”? If so, what's the cure?
