Has anyone had any trouble with the Contacts app? I keep getting an error message saying:

"The proces adroid.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

it does this anytime I try to see anyone's contact info.

I installed EI22 manually using upgrade.zip... everything else seems to be working fine.

Try Settings/Apps/Manage Apps/Contacts and clear cache...

Sounds like just a qwirk in your update.

ok i think i'll go with odin then update and then root it, now the big question is will i be able to restore a mybackup backup after the upgrade?

Did the same update. Contacts seem fine.

Should be able to just fine... I would recommend a data only restore... Some system apps have changed on GB from Froyo so I would recommend anything system app related you do a data only restore..

done chargin my phone. the wipe method paul mentioned worked like a charm. I couldnt wait for the OTA so I updated manually so far no FCs, GPS workin like never before, signal is 2 bars but its always been like that i usually have 0 or 1 bars where I live and that goes for any company or cell phone in my neighborhood. phone is faster. no keyboard lag whatsoever. the only thing is that whenver I wanna move an app to the sd card it says failure but the second time i try it it works.

Might want to try backing up your SDCARD to your computer, then formatting it... Then moving your data back to your sdcard...

Successful update via manual download, rename, 3-finger-dance method.

Whole thing took less than 10 minutes - maybe 3 minutes of actual updating

It seems that I lost no data in the process - it kept my login information, screen setup, wireless network keys, etc.

The only quirk was that media scanner scanned my SD card 3-4 times consecutively on 1st boot, which made things quite slow. It seems to have stopped now though and things are much zippier.

Smooth sailing!

Thanks again to all who have put their time and sweat into this endeavor!

Yes the initial media scanning has been reported to take a long time for some users... Everything appears to be working fine after the initial boot.

That button is phased out and it says cache is 0.00... any other ideas?
Hate to say this but... Factory Reset ?

Might be the trick unfortunately....

If cache/data is unavailable to clear then that is about the only thing I can think of unless anyone else has a better idea...

On stock EC05, downloaded the file to my Mac, changed to update.zip, moved it to the sd card root directory, followed the instructions to reboot, clicked update.zip and i got an error message and the install was aborted. Anyone know what the problem is?

I'm on Win7 and had the same problem. Went into My Files on the phone and found the update was named update.zip.zip. Renamed it update.zip and worked fine. May just be when it was renamed on the PC side. Your PC settings may not show the file extension. So adding .zip will make it .zip.zip. Check the file in your phone.

Yes.... This... This is Windows thing... If you simply right click in Windows and rename the file to "update.zip" it will add a second ".zip" to the file...

Make sure your showing file extensions or otherwise just rename it "update" and it will already have the ".zip" applied..

Sorry, hope that makes some sense...

will the factory reset take me back to froyo?

Looks like a hard reset is in my future.... I will probably ODIN back to stick EC05 and then do the over the air update. However, I'm at work and can't access the download sites for EC05 / ODIN, so I will have to wait until I get home.

I was able to ODIN back to stock EC05 (thanks Paul). Then I followed these instructions and now I am running GB.

Thanks to all who put out all the good info!

No.. Goto into your Settings/Privacy/Factory Reset... (If I remember correctly)

Your contacts/phone numbers/calendar are stored on your Google account so that will be okay.

It will just reset the phone but you should remain on GB.

i have a problem paul if i connect my Epic to my computer (vista) i get the popup that a usb disk was insert it but when i open it it loads but i cant access none of the folders. if i click on them the computer freezes and i have to disconnect the phone from the computer. the only way i can add or remove stuff from the sd card is by using a sd card reader. Ive tried reformatting the sd card from the phone and from the computer but it still does the same thing. also if i connect my phone to the ps3 it never loads onto the ps3 just stalls for a while and gets out of the mass storage
