Email FAQ (Updated 7/10/2010) and Q & A Thread

Never mind. I just found the email settings on the Incredible with a check box for delete mail on server, and it was checked. Hopefully, that fixes things!

Can't get yahoo mail...

I can't setup my yahoo mail, followed steps above but does not work....

very helpful.

how many separate email accounts can you have setup with this phone? i see u mentioned exchange server accounts, but what about overall?? i'm a blackberry user so i'm trying to cover all my bases before i make the switch

Ten accounts. One Exchange account and the rest as Gmail, IMAP, or POP accounts.

Google Accounts: You can have one Google Account on your phone. However, subsequent Google Accounts can only synchronize Gmail/Google Mail and contacts. Other Google services use the first Google Account you added.

Yep, you should be good. I'm guessing by your posts, that your Incredible is on it's way? :D

If you want a jumpstart on understanding the phone, in advance of it's arrival, you can download the user manual here.

I pretty much rewrote and tested the entire procedure. Please try again and let me know if it works for you.

i actually havent FULLY pulled the trigger yet haha i'm a really conscious buyer so i usually have to do a lot of research before i can fully commit to a new piece of technology. I'm basically just making sure im not going to be let down or lose any major functions going from blackberry to incredible haha

where did you find that box where you can leave it on the server, can't find it. Thanks!!

I have an e-mail account with Charter. I have it all set up on the phone just fine. It is an IMAP accout with security SSL. The problem I have is when I check or get my e-mail, it deletes it off the server so my home pc can't retrieve it. I thought I saw a box you could check or uncheck to leave it on the server, but can't find it. Can anyone tell mw where it is? Thanks!!

I think the leave message on server option is only available if you set it up as a POP account. You should be able to copy whatever POP/SMTP settings you've configured into your email client at home & plug them into the Incredible's email client. Charter has no idea whether you're mobile or not.

Ok - so I have gmail and two charter accounts I am trying to use. I set up the two charter accounts but found that I was not getting charter e-mail or gmail after following the instructions about the data settings. (I'm on an Alltel plan in rural northeastern NC - so I figured these settings must be it.) Tried to delete the Charter email accounsts and then set them up from scratch - could send but not recieve. (sending to gmail from charter then replying to test ability to recieve) Deleted charter accounts then Tried to use K9 for a minute or two and successfully got email but just didn't like the K9 - uninstalled K9 and tried to set up the charter accounts for yet another time. Was getting messages that "could not send message"- waited about 15 minutes - no messages even after manually trying to check mail. Still could not send message. So I went old school...Battery Pull....ok not a battery pull but powered device off and then back on...messages sent as soon as phone came on. but still not getting any messages on my charter accounts even after manually refreshing. Any ideas?!?!?

Hey Cory, just tried it again and it was still on server. Wierd, sometimes it leaves them on and sometimes it doesn't. Also when I got the phone, I put the same settings as my home pc and would not work, went to charter and she looked it up and found the settings and it works fine. At home it is pop with no security settings, and for mobile to work, Imap with SSL security. I thought I saw that "leave on server" somewhere, must have been when I tried pop account. Thanks!!

Glad you got it to work. It sounds like asuwookie could use those settings, so feel free to post them.

Outgoing 'Other' POP Email Account Problems

I have been trying all day to set up my outgoing server for a work email account hosted through GoDaddy. I have had the account for years and access it from multiple computers/devices with no problem. For some reason the Incredible will not accept the outgoing server settings. It accepts my user name and password for incoming mail, but gives me this error when setting up outgoing: "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." The username and password are the same for incoming and that has no issues.

Spent over an hour with Verizon and GoDaddy on the phone today, neither could help. Tried all options for ports, security, etc. No surprise really. Don't see anything in the forums on this either though. Someone must be experiencing the same thing. Please let me know. Thanks.
