Not speculating a release date, we all know there are tons of those. But, there are plenty of units out there, enough for accessories specifically for the phone to pop up, like this one here! That's our beloved, yet mysterious phone, in the flesh!

And what do you know, if you break your screen, you can fix it yourself! I used one of these on my Hero this past week and it worked flawlessly. Note: Shipping between July and December...;)

I've seen a lot of chargers, nothing special as its just a microUSB, which plenty of phones, including my previous pre and my current BT use to charge. And the cases I've seen in the past were universal.

Speaking of cases, I got a couple questions since I've never used a case for a phone, but this phone is so sweet that I want to protect it.

- If Sprint's insurance plan will just replace my phone, I don't care.. would they, if I crack the screen?
- Do hard cases really protect the phone at all? I imagine they don't soften the blow much when it hits the floor...
- Are those slim-type gel cases useful? Because if they don't really offer much protection, they're just annoying how they keep it from slipping in your pocket.

- If I use that Invisible Shield stuff, will that protect it from screen-shatter?

1) No, they don't cover accidental damage without insurance
2) somewhat, may divert some of the blow to the plastic case, and MAY require a higher blow to crack the screen
3) Not really, just annoying, and lint gets caught underneath them
4) Won't prevent shatter, will prevent you from giving yourself a shave if you want to use the phone with a shattered screen, and prevents your fingers from being cut up. Phone may still be usable with just a shattered screen.

For me:
I have to wear a shirt/tie/slacks/belt to work everyday. I currently use a universal beltclip case and haven't had any problems with accidental slippage. I did crack the screen on my current hero, but that was trying to get it out of a homemade nav cradle, which has a kung-fu grip on the phone. Had I taken my time taking it out with 2 hands, no issues, but i was trying to be a hot-shot and do a 1-handed move to get it out and it slipped from my hands, hit the dash, then the seat, then did a nice gymnastics move onto the concrete right outside the car. When I had the pre, my favorite case was the seidio belt-clip with the spring-loaded release. It allowed a tight grip and easy 1-handed release.

For this phone, since i won't really be able to use it much during work, except for looking up drug interactions with my pharmacology software (no phone calls allowed, or texting), I won't be in a hurry to get it out of the case, so any tight grip will work for me.

I have used both invisishield and a softer silicone case for all my phones. I have dropped my hero several times and the silicone case had definitely helped it from getting scratched, probably with the impact as well. I can't really say much about the invisishield other than it has to help with possible scratches on the screen. Your right about the pocket though. It is a pain in the *** to get in and out with the silicone cover on it. I never owned a slider before but it would seem that the only type of case other than the ones on your belt would be two piece cases. Probably couldnt use the silicone gel type with the Epic.

There's a 1 piece droid case that doesn't let you use the keyboard. Seems pointless, but have you tried using the keyboard on an OG droid? I'm glad Moto fixed a lot of the complaints with the Droid2's keyboard. Its very different in layout and feel.

That display is super thin. How awesome would it be if samsung released an actually magical 4" Super AMOLED trackpad?

1. Insurance - nooo, I mean, if I'm paying for insurance, and break the thing, will they cover it without a deductible? What about if I lose it/it gets stolen?
2. Is a hard case worth the extra girth?

Belt clips are extremely utilitarian, but I'm at bars and clubs in LA, and I [attempt to] hit on every female within a 100ft radius, so I can't really use a belt clip because that's... well, come on, you can't successfully hit on a girl if you're wearing your phone...

I'm just tryin to figure out if there's actually any point to any of the cases. I mean... my left pocket is *just* for my phone and gum, so I'm not worried about coins/keys scratching the screen. Just worried about dropping it or losing it at a club.

Anything can be covered if you pay the 7 dollars a month and are wiling to pay the 100 dollar deductible. If it is accidental, you tell them you lost the phone pay 100 and get a new one(or refurbished) from Asurion usually within a week. As i stated above they cover loss and stolen so that was answered. In all fairness it is actually worth it, because almost no warranty, besides best buy, covers accidental damage, yeah best buy has no deductible but when I had them it took 50+ days to get my Pre back when it blew its speaker...

I know it's a different device but I have been using a incase slider case teamed up with a invisishield protector on my 3Gs since day 1. My wife also has the same setup on her phone. I've dropped my phone on hard surfaces numerous times and there's not a mark to be found. My wife destroys everything she touches and hers is still holding up.

This combo adds barely any size to the device thereby allowing you to conceal it in your pocket. I personally don't like the "John Wayne" holster on my hip deal either. I completely understand if you're trying to troll for trim. Big no-no.

Now I know this is for an Apple product but there will be similar hard cases out for the Epic I'm sure.

My man! 1 mm thick with rubber pads? Saweeeet. I'ma definitely look into this for my phone.

Glad you see my point regarding the holster. Btw, "troll for trim"? Took me a second, but I like it.

Well then do I even need a case? I might as well just roll with the insurance and no case... the insurance is huge because it covers theft/loss. Glad to know it doesn't cover accidental damage.

Insurance on phones is definitely a plus. I've had it on numerous phones and used it a couple times. There was always a deductible though. The other downside is the downtime without a phone. I use my phone for work and home. I can't be without a device for a day let alone a week. Each phone call I miss potentially costs me money.

And potentially costs me some fun. No loaner phones wtf?

Case is from California too! Not China, not Hong Kong, but California!

Glad to see you're stoked about it being from Cali:p

Keep in mind, my experience has been with AT&T. I've never gone through an insurance claim with Sprint. I know we keep a pink motorola razr at the house for an emergency back-up phone in the event of a phone being lost/broken/etc. I'm sure you could probably convince a local store to loan you a phone until the new unit came in. My local Sprint seems pretty accommodating anyhow.

Never having owned a phone before with a slide out keyboard and always having been a fan of the soft clear TPU type cases...what is required for a slide out keyboard...a 2 part case with a top and a bottom?
