1 month into release, samsung/sprint has pretty much fixed all the bugs and the end result is a pretty perfect phone.

FAST , Vibrant, longevity.

awesome camera,

It is truly the rightful Sprint flagship model.

And it also took as long for me to really see the Android advantage over iOS..

Do not hesitate to get your own.

Haven't gotten the DI18 update yet but all the calibration and tweaking has turned this phone to a great machine as opposed to a short lived thrill. The fact the phne will only get better with upgrades is great too...

The Flagship is still the EVO and the epic is very good. Have both phones. Do think the 8mega pixel camera on the evo is better as the front facing on the EVO as well. And the 8th wifi tether is better then the 4th on the epic. And there is a reason the evo is still almost sold out where the epic is pretty much available everywhere. Like I said I have both and the evo is just that slightly gap better. But I am glad you like your Samsung Epic.

Probably a preference thing, but I think camera on Epic is much better than Evo's. Especially for video. Video quality of Evo is horrible. Front camera on Evo is better though. And small correction, Epic can tether 5 devices not 4.

Trust me. I know about photography. The EVO's main camera is poor relative to the Epic's. You can't expect HTC to output a better camera than Samsung. They simply do not have the talent/experience.

I too love the EPIC 4G, although coming from a Palm Pre, learning Android OS is a PITA for those who just want the device to work with all the bells and whistles out of the box. I still miss Webos's e-mail app....

The latest update... I love it. My battery life now rocks (keep in mind that I've always kept 4G on). Before it felt like I had to manually do wifi/4g/3g. Now it's much more automated. Very nice!

The side buttons on the device feel a bit flimsy, but other than that, I expect to continue loving this device well into Q4 2011.

I got my Epic 2 days ago after debating between EVO and EPIC. I have been using Android Touch for 6 months so I'm familiar with Android.

Yes, this phone is great! I wish it were a little bit smaller/lighter.

I am now debating whether I should downgrade to Transform to save money. But from the leaked Transform specs today, I'm inclined to keep the Epic. I'm not convinced whether Transform is powerful enough to run Flash even with Froyo update.

Having used donut/eclair/froyo on the same device before, I can tell you how great Froyo is. It rocks even on 400mhz Touch.

We can go on and about specs and cameras but put the two phones next two each other and look at them and the screen tells the whole story. That Evo screen my coworker has looks absolutely archaic next to the Epic screen. That's enough for me personally since I'm always looking at the darn thing! I keep it on lower settings and it still looks better!

What is much more automated now? what changed? I get 3g and 4g too, but I turn 4g off when i leave the house because it's always going from connected to disconnected and it seems to eat up more battery by doing so.

GPS bugs remain

I like my Epic, but I can't let this thread go without noting that the GPS bugs remain a big problem for many users.

It seems like every other thread is trying to compare the two phones, which is whyI returned my epic and got the evo. The only thing I miss from the epic is the screen, everything else is not even close.

In the tests everyone did for the How fast is your phone?, the Epic rocked. The EVO was far behind. These were just two real-world tests of opening different websites and far from scientific. Still it showed what all of you have been saying.

I own both phones and like both. I need a keyboard and the Epic is my daily user. After the update and with froyo coming, I have no problem giving my evo to another rep. That also gives me a line with an upgrade I can use for the next latest and greatest be it WP7 or webOS.

I'm on my 2nd epic due to a cracked screen and neither had gps issues. I think boomer is stuck in D07 land and that as only a cache issue which isn't an issue if you power cycle once in a while. Not an issue post update though. My only issue with the epic is the missing letters while typing. Didn't realize it at first, but the keyboard does miss letters every so often. Quite a few have confirmed it in another thread as well.

Other than that, it's pretty solid.

Once 2.2 comes out the Epic will be crowned king

Na because Sense is much better and more refined then TouchWiz, and the fact the Evo will still have the better front facing cam for video conferencing. Also to add the GPS bug still remains on a lot, and the capacitive touch buttons are just horrid compared to the Evo's.

Looked at that topic and found my Evo is loading in about the same amount of time for everything. The Evo is not far behind, so stop posting misinfo. Obviously you have never owned the device.

It should be mentioned that I have no use for the physical keyboard. It would have been ideal that the Epic was a non-slider. However, I'm willing to put up with the slider mechanism for the superior display, speed, and camera.

This should tell you how superior IMO the Epic is relative to the rest of the sprint's line up.

No idea about the GPS issue. Mine works flawlessly. I'd be driving with the phone on my lap and the GPS will lock within 10 seconds.

Sense better than touchwiz? Perhaps.. but who cares about the stock skin? I had fancy widget (fake sense ui) running on my epic for a while until I realized what a stupid ui that was - why would anyone want a big-a$$ clock taking up half of the home screen? I loaded up beautiful widget and never looked back

Ah non epic users.. Eat your heart out

slider wobble and gps are my gripes with the Epic... still love it to death though

what keeps me from going back to the EVO is its Snapdragon. Its capable but as things get more CPU/GPU intensive (Gingerbread maybe?) i fear it might have a harder time keeping up when it comes to a smooth experience, and the camera/video are way better on Epic.

i would have preferred a keyboardless Galaxy S on Sprint imo

I fully understand that there are workarounds for the GPS cache bug, but average end users don't. (The other GPS bug, the bogus 30-meter estimated accuracy, is less serious but has no workaround.)

The GPS should just work before we label this device as "perfect."

Nothing wrong with the Snapdragons at all for smoothness. It just doesn't score the high 50's in Nerocore on the Evo's snapdragon. Now the G2's Snapdragon beats the Epic and the Hummingbird in Neocore.

What gps issues are people still having post update? No one says what they are which seems like people say it just to say it.

And spl....I own both phones, and yes, the Epic is faster on quite a few counts. Not by a mile, but it's noticeable. And that's comparing 2.1 to 2.2. The difference should increase when 2.2 hits.
