Everyone happy with Pixel so far?

I'm coming from an S7 Edge and while I clearly want the Pixel for obvious software advantages, the missing hardware features that I've grown to love on my S7 Edge put me on the fence about going through with it.

Any thoughts from other previous S7E owners? The two things I'll mainly miss are waterproofing and wireless charging.

I had the S7E and the Note 7. I will always be a fan of the Note phones. I do like the S-Pen. I was not a fan of the curved edges on the S7E though so I don't miss that at all. Waterproofing and wireless charging are nice, but neither are features that I would prefer over quick updates, the Google Assistant and most importantly a smooth, optimized OS. I was never a Touchwiz hater, but I certainly don't miss it on the Pixel.

Still really wish they'd integrate SMS into Allo so I could use it as my main messenger. That's not so much of a gripe with the phone as it is with Google for not understanding how important it is to have a competitive messenger on their OS.

OMG YESSSSSSSS!!! That would be amazing!

It's an Android iPhone - and that's a very good thing. Good luck Samsung.
No reason to say good luck samsung when half of the parts of the pixel phone are made by Samsung and samsung is the king of Android until further notice...you should be saying thank you

I echo you...I am a fan of the Note series of phones and S-Pen...but I'll live with out it for the "quick updates, the Google Assistant and most importantly a smooth, optimized OS." This phone is smooth as ice...never before experienced this on an Android phone.

I'm certainly not happy. It sucks. It sucks that I'm reading all you guys enjoying this wonderful phone, describing to me how great and smooth it is, and I (and many others) have to wait until Thanksgiving time to get ours.

Enjoy the phone people and please continue telling us your experiences good or bad, so I can live vicariously through you guys for another month!

It's still reinventing the wheel. We already had that option in Hangouts!
Hangouts is still the best one to me. It supports SMS, Videocalls, Voicecalls (but only between phones), Desktop and Mobile integration, verified phone numbers (like Allo) and you load credit on it to call phone numbers (using your phone number as ID, instead of "Private Number").

The only option that was in hangouts (in Google Talk) and still not here, is the ability to do a "voice call" from a Desktop to another Desktop/Mobile Hangouts client.
And I hate this, because I have to videocall from my laptop and then turn off the video.

Now WhatsApp is the best, but only because of the quantity of users.Still have a lot of secondary features that make the app very good.

I'm a note person and can't wait to get back there but will keep this xl in the meantime. I will say that, when asked by people (usually older) who want a smart phone and say that they just want it to make calls and check a few apps, I've always told them to just get an iPhone. It's not my thing, but it is reliable and simple. I will now be telling them to get a Pixel. It's also not my thing, but it's reliable and simple and I prefer to keep people away from the evil empire.

Please help me with the iPhone being more simple to use if you want to make calls and check apps. If you pick up an iphone and an Android phone AND use it straight out of the box, how is the iPhone simpler? I'm only asking based on your example of wanting to make calls and check a few apps. Please help me to understand how it is simpler on the iPhone. I think consumers have become caught up in that marketing ploy that Apple hasn't even used. LOL. I own both. If I lay them flat and decide to make a call or check messages, it isn't simpler on either phone.

It's a great phone. Been with Google for a lot of years now loved my Nexus devices happy to see them pick right back up. Also like how you can get the pixel or xl with out losing spec (yea the xl got a better screen and better battery) but if you want a great easy one handed phone you still get Google top of the line

I'm a note person. It has a lot of features the average person who just wants to make calls and check a few apps doesn't need. I used to recommend iPhone to those people. Now, I will recommend Pixel. I never said iPhone was simpler than the Pixel.

I was a Note/iPhone/Nexus person. Couldn't really decide on any one of them. Thought the Note series was going to be it for me. But since I had to return it due to the recall I went with the Pixel. So glad things worked out that way. Think I'm going to be a Pixel person.

I am going to be a Pixel person till my very nice XL is paid off and then hopefully be a Note person again. This is a fine phone, I am ok with it, but I will go back to the Note when I can.

Iphone 6 user here, My decision to switch to android was fairly simple, I currently had the iphone 6, and the iphone 7 upgrades was very minuscule compared to the 7+ upgrades. I didn't want the 5.5 inch phone I prefer a smaller.

Okay so now on to google, I received my package from google yesterday, I performed the transformation from apple to android with the cords that was provided, very simple, and it allowed me to continue doing other things while the transfer processed in the background. I don't think I put the phone down the entire time, phone is very snappy, smooth, camera is awesome, and it's so many customizing options available that it probably will take me a solid day or two to fully grasp.

I will check back in a day or two, because this could be that honey moon phase, but first impressions coming from iphone 6 is I'm in love. That is all...Have a good one :)

Oh, I do miss receiving high quality videos from friends since they all have apple, I noticed when they send me a video it comes in small an grainy since its compressed, but pictures comes out awesome.

This is probably my biggest issue and it's not really that big. All of my family and most of my friends are iPhone users. Messaging is an adjustment, but I have not found an easy way to send a video and maintain the quality between android and iOS. Google Photos sharing is probably the best option.

I'm on the same boat as you. I have an s7 edge and I really love the phone but there is something intriguing about the pixel that makes me want to get it.

I had a oneplus 3 for a week and the stock android experience is boring compared to TouchWiz, but it is so smooth and fast that I thoroughly enjoyed the OP3. The reason I sold it was because the s7 edge has the same screen and was so much smaller in the hand. The OP3 to me was sort of clunky. I got better battery life on it than the edge and it has a smaller battery. No bloat and no TouchWiz equals amazing battery life, which I am assuming is the same with the Pixel.

I love wireless charging, love the fact my phone can go in water and the size of the s7 edge is incredible compared to other 5.5" displays.

Can someone comment on the size of the XL? I know it is on the thicker side which I'm not too happy about but heard it feels good in the hand.
